There is no such thing as race relations there is privilege due to skin color and there is not granting special preference due to skin color, the same as it has always been.

If anything, I think things are worse, and the Obama administration, especially Eric Holder, has contributed to this.

Frankly,I don't care either. Race relations has become an industry in this country and I refuse to buy in to that. If people want to riot and burn down their own neighborhood fine, if they want to burn down mine bear in mind that there are a lot of armed people out there and they are no longer interested in "understanding" why people riot. The lesson of Koreatown in the LA riots is clear, the police will not protect you from rioters so you better be ready to shoot them yourself.

A lot of "Americans" have been more than happy to show us all how they feel about minorities since President Obama announced he was running. What they used to be smart enough to keep to themselves (their feelings about minorities, I mean to say), they now have no trouble coming right out and saying out loud.

Don't get me wrong - this is a good thing. They're basically confirming for the rest of us what we suspected all along. That doesn't make it any less sad, futile, and pathetic, but at least it helps decent folks know who to avoid/condemn/mock.

The answer depends on which race is responding. At least one or more races will say no. Others will say yes. Overall as long as the liberal progressive media elite continue to fill the airwaves with hate and envy we will have no peace.

there will be some who say no; because they see a hooded Klansman around every corner....but it has gotten better...what they do with it; is up to them....I have enough problems of my own as do millions of unemployed or under-employed American citizens..it is time for those people who are leading the minorities down Hate Avenue; to shut up; and let people live their lives....the stench of their BS is sickening and very quite old...

I think some things are better (housing, job and educational opps) and some things are worse (more people on welfare, in prisons, etc.), so not much meaningful change.

But I'm guessing, this isn't based on extensive research.

Racism is changing terms, but it's the same and it's escalating. It's acceptable to hate whites, and to discriminate against whites, but it's wrong to hate anyone else. Double standards like these make this issue bloated and unsolvable. It's either hate for all, or none, make up your mind.

Clearly you've never looked at either the justice system or the education system in this country where African-American men are incarcerated at a rate of seven times that to their white counterparts, where median wealth of a black household is 5% of white households and massive educational disparities still exist. There is no racism against whites in this country. To claim otherwise is to ignore all facts.

And they are getting worse with the ULTRA RIGHT hate groups pushing their white supremacy agenda. All you have to do is look at Romney's add, NOT A SINGLE PERSON OF COLOR IN THE WHOLE AD.

Watch the video if you don't believe it!!!! Romney is a racist!! You want to elect a RACIST! This jackass is a LIE!!!

He is supposed to be a candidate for the President of the United States, to represent ALL citizens not just whites. ANY candidate that is worth even beginning to consider would be absolutely certain that his ads included ALL citizens.

Traditional Black neighborhoods are being displaced by Hispanic neighborhoods. Some of this is very violent with gangs fighting for turf.

I attended university in Chicago, and while race relations between Black and Latinos were horrid back in the 80s and early 90s, that's not the case today. Sure there are still predominately black and Latino neighbourhoods but they don't war like they use to.

I guess it is mostly a gang thing. Probably not so bad where gangs aren't fighting each other.

there has been no major breakthroughs since really, but with the election of America's first African American president we are seeing the issue in black and white or who's racist and who isn't racist and I think the post Obama era will be less racist than this one simply because the Tea Party and their throwbacks will probably go extinct if we can keep Obama in 2012 and elect a true progressive in 2016.

We thought they had, but they keep sending us "wake up calls" so it's not worth the effort if it's going to be a one-way capitulation. As individuals, we can get along alright, but there's too much profit to be had in civil unrest.

Blacks and whites have not changed that much. Blacks shoot each other more now. I think the Hispanic population and foreign influence-growth worries blacks more than whitey now.

Speaking for myself only I don't think Blacks worry more about the hispanics they have always been here. I use to work at a center where there was a large Black and Hispanoc population and there was no problem, but both groups watched whitey as you phrased it.

As a person who resides in Los Angeles County it's a much different picture! There are vast areas where there is NO "Whitey" and Blacks and Mexican Gangs are at war over turf for drug selling income daily! And the Mexican population combined with the rest of the Hispanic community Dwarfs the # of Blacks!

Forget "Whitey" Blacks regularly kill Asians here!

Unfortunately we still have KKK, Skinheads, and other such groups in our country. I work in a nursing home near where I live. I take care of apartments. When we were getting ready to hire another girl and finally did, the FIRST thing a couple residents asked was, "Is she colored?" I was pissed. I can't stand prejudice, and here it is alive and well where I work. I flat out told them that the color of her skin didn't matter. It was whether she did her job that counted.
