1.) Who mutilated this poor woman, Republican senators or her despicable husband?
2.) Has her sociopath husband been arrested and is now rotting in prison, or did he get off scot-free because the senate blocked VAWA?
3.) Does the USA already have a legal framework to deal with domestic violence?
4.) Are women the only victims of domestic violence? Are men the only perpetrators?
5.) A wife cut her husband's penis off and shredded it in the garbage disposal because he asked for a divorce. Another man had all his teeth pulled out by his ex-wife. The media made fun of both male victims. Do we need a Violence Against Men Act in addition to VAWA? If not, why not?

7.) In the light of the above article, what do you make of the lack of shelters or resources for battered husbands? How do you explain that the police stereotypes men as perpetrators when called to a domestic dispute, even if it was the husband who called the police out of fear for his life? Could it be that male victims of domestic violence are already marginalized and overlooked because the legal and media spotlight focuses almost entirely on female victims?
Well, sexism works both ways. How would you react if someone made a comment similar to yours about the female burn victim? If somebody suggested that her husband wouldn't have employed such drastic measures unless she deserved it? I think that would be a horrible, hateful and despicable thing to say -- and so was your comment, imho.
It is entirely possible to play different kinds of bedroom games (oral sex, mutual masturbation etc.) until the point where you're either able to afford contraception or are prepared to take care of a child. It's not like people had no choice but to rut like mindless animals in heat.
(For the record, I think that birth control pills should be provided for women who need them for medical reasons and not just for contraception. It shouldn't be too hard to determine which patients really require a prescription. Doctors do that every day).
