Has Obama violated the oath he took as president?

The oath sworn by him was:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Doesn't that include defending our country from foreign invasion and upholding the law? So why did he instead file a lawsuit against those he swore to protect from foreign invasion?

Of course he has! And the violations are blatant, not surreptitious.

Two hundred years ago obama would have been dragged out of the White House by his neck and hung in the nearest tree. Of course, we are much more 'civilized' today. We are just going to sit and watch him deconstruct America while whimpering now and then.

Bush did way more damage to our country and our Constution. But bashing President Obama is a cheap and easy way to raise your score here on SH, so I expect it will continue. Why no facts to go along with the question though? Don't you have any?

Obama has not upheld the US Constitution he kept the Patriot Act in place that Bush started, he mandated the American people purchase health care insurance and that is just for starters. How many in Congress take that same oath? All of them..........how many uphold and support it? Not many...........

I don't like the Patriot Act either. Health care is a different matter. We all use it, we should all pay for it. My issue is that I am convinced that many use a double standard. Things would be ok if Bush had done them, but are not OK if being done by president Obama

Roger, you will then be please to be informed that George Bush is no longer the president. I don't know how this fact escaped you, but it was even covered on TV and the newspapers. I encourage you to double check what I'm saying, you know, do your due dilegence, but he left office over two and a half years ago!
  • Roger47 Scott 2011/05/27 03:31:13
    Roger47
I know. A double standard is being applied. Those who remained silent or approved of Bush's actions are going after Obama for doing the same things. I believe all should be judged by the same criteria.
  • Scott Roger47 2011/05/27 12:52:48

Roger - I guess I was too subtle, but I was poking fun at your comment. Obama signed off on a renewal of the Patriot Act last night. I understand the citizens discomfort with the Patriot Act, especially with the Obama administration in office, but it's a necessary evil right now.

And, you're darn tootin' health care is another matter. Obamacare, which several courts have found to be unconstitutional will, bankrupt the nation.
  • Roger47 Scott 2011/05/27 20:40:46
    Roger47
NO. Letting companies continue to profit from health care will bankrupt us.
  • Scott Roger47 2011/05/29 01:36:40
    Scott
If companies don't profit, why would they stay in business? And if they don't stay in business, then where is healthcare? I assume you mean the insurance companies - right? Or the pharmaceuticals? Or the technology companies? Or the hospitals, or doctors? You know that there are no vaccines made in the US anymore? You know why? Too many regulations and too many law suits. You think they won't do that to those other industries?

Health care isn't a different matter the federal government has no right to tell anyone they have to purchase anything. Many out there choose not to purchase health insurance and instead use there money exactly how they want to. Health care reform is needed but not Obamacare.

If you don't buy insurance, and end up in ICU for a long time I get stuck paying your bill. If all without insurance were to have to sign a mandatory waiver so that if they get hurt they either pay cash up front or die, I am OK with them being allowed to not pay for insurance. Otherwise, they better do it.
  • Arel Roger47 2011/05/27 13:15:05
    Arel
You get stuck paying the bills for all those on Medicaid already and Obamacare just increases those numbers. If I choose not to purchase insurance and get injured or sick hospitals will set people up on a payment plan they do it all the time because something coming in is better than nothing. Most working class Americans purchase insurance either on their own or through their employer then there are those choose not to purchase insurance. Some because they are young and never think they will use or need it and others because they are at that poverty level where they can get it for free. The problem is people want something for nothing.

Classic deflection, concentrate now and think, we are asking about the One, not Bush. If you want to talk about the Bush constitutional malfeasance post that question. I will gladly list all of Bush's breaks with the law, there are many. Obama is far worse on those points.

Yes Bush did on occasion violate his Oath...

List Bush's acts that you believe violated his Oath, and right next to them list what Obama did to correct them (or keep them).

Now please don't tell us that you are one of those brain dead morons who believe that just because most of us see that Obama is the worst president in modern history, we supported Bush in everything he did.

I think lying and falsifying intelligence to get us into a war is a good place to start. How much have his lies cost us? But I admit at this point Obama is at fault for the troops still being there.
  • BackWoo... Roger47 2011/05/27 10:49:41

Bush did not lie about or falsify the intelligence. All (U.S. And foreign) intelligence was flawed.
