Has America lost its moral and political compass?

Tell me when you think the last time our political moral compass even existed was? My answer would fall somewhere before Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War. This country has not had a"moral political compass" to speak of in years. That phrase alone is an oxymoron to me, moral and political no longer belong in the same sentence.
