Harry Reid is delusional if he thinks Americans love government, he has it all backwards, and he
is one of the reasons that the people want government to stay out of our lives.

Remember several years ago in the Star Trek series there was a Interstellar traveler named Harry Mudd..and Spock programed the duplicator machine to make a whole series of Harry's wife..and whenever he was being frivolous which was always His wife would come out in a nagging tone and Say "Harcourt Fenton Mudd,,where have you been ...It would be a good idea if they could duplicate Pelosi and lock her in a room with Harry Reed..But she would never be allowed to come out..just nag harry all day, like she does the American people

The American people love government...the one defined by the constitution without all the added on bull crap (take note: the changes that ended slavery and segregation or allowed women to vote were not a part of said bull crap, use your head, you know what I mean) and government programs and whatever else "they" can think of. Weren't WE supposed to be the government?

Exactly, these things were important enough to warrant Amendments to the Constitution, as it was designed to be. I find it very difficult to care about a lot of the "important" things that have happened by federal regulation if they cannot use the manner set by law to bring about said changes. It doesn't matter what I feel about the legislation in question if the proper form is not followed. Equal protection of law is guaranteed by the US Constitution and that means "ALL God's Chilluns" in the US. A great many of our current problems would simply disappear if we applied the Constitutional (The Supreme Law of the Land") yardstick to them. For example; While I am all for immigration, we have laws regulating it and if a person wishes to be a US citizen, Respect the damn laws of this country and enter legally!

I feel much the same way. Just remember (as the rest of the world should) that the face of government is not the face of america. It is just the current mask and doesn't always reflect the will of "We the People"

Harry Reid is a prime example of what is wrong with modern American politics. He was trained as a lawyer and has never held a real job in his life and yet presumes to know what is best for all of us who actually work for a living.

That's like a prostitute giving advice about chastity.

Amen! I think American politicians should have a few more requirements to be able to hold an office: 1) Be American born and prove it; 2) have served in the military; 3) has a business background AND has a proven record of running a thriving business; 4) has Pledged Allegiance to OUR Country!

For some offices I don't see any problem with a naturalized citizen holding them. It's HARD to become a citizen and many naturalized citizens are better citizens than natural born ones.

Being in the military is certainly a big plus but some of our best Presidents (such as President Reagan) were never in the military.

But good grief, they have to been successful at SOMETHING other than running for office, otherwise we wind up with an Obama.

so the summed up answer ..... no ! I have extreme allegance to the american flag / national anthem .
absolutely no use /respect or faith for the current {P} resident & co.

I also took that Oath and I remember it saying(among other things) that I swore to defend the US from enemies "both foreign and domestic". It appears that the founders of our nation forsaw enemies of the "domestic" persuasion. It is a shame when the the entity that our governmet has become, is something I would list as a domestic enemy!

I think the American people love their constitutional republic, but they don't love or trust those who run the government. It's why this congress has only a 16% approval rating.
