A Harlingen father is behind bars after he allegedly bit and beat his 5-month-old son.

Harlingen police arrested 24-year-old Yonder Leiva Izquierdo on a child abuse charge on Monday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the incident originally happened at the Bonita Park Housing Project off Rangerville Road back on February 2nd.

A Child Protective Services caseworker called police after noticing bruises and marks on the boy’s legs and cheeks.

The 5-month-old boy was taken to the Valley Baptist Medical Center where doctors noted bite marks, bruises and abrasions on the boy’s legs, thighs and cheeks.

Police interviewed Izquierdo on Monday and arrested him on a third-degree felony injury to a child charge.

Izquierdo appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Tuesday morning where he was issued a $40,000 dollar bond.

That story was so disturbing. I dont't think it had to do with the perpetrator being male, I think it was his holding the essence of pure evil. That chhild would have been better off being raised by a wild animal. The baby would have had better treatment.

That may be true. It seems when the moms go post partum on the baby, the baby dies. On woman here killed 5 of her children in psychosis after the birth of the last one.
At least in wild animals the males commit infanticide for a reason. The human animal doesn't show such discretion.
It all makes me very ill.
