Hey Dr. Jackson.. No not all cops check people before cuffing them and stuffing them into a car.. it would be quite easy for someone to have a gun in the back of there pants, and accidentally shoot them self. When I got arrested for an OVI, the cop didn't pat me down until before going into the police station

    Seems legit.
The police shouldn't even try to make excuses. On the off-chance that they're tried, it's not like any court will find them guilty anyway. If they're going to straight-up ice people and get away with it, they should at least drop the pretense of innocence. At least the triads and the Russian mob won't make excuses in press releases.

An incredible story. How would this poor, handcuffed man shoot himself in the head in the back of a police car? Who was really the killer? The policemen or a third actor?
There is an urgent need for somebody like Miss Marple to elucidate the case.

There is no way a person with their hands handcuffed behind them could shoot themselves in the head.

Sounds dodgy. They found a small baggy of weed but they didn't find the gun? Also he only had weed >.> Nothing to kill himself over.

I don't know what really happened, but I personally don't believe the story. No accusations, but I'm gonna need some pretty convincing evidence.

Racism was the motive; I do not think he will don that, but where was the weapon for him doing that. But police friends may try help; bi laying the way was done. He was handcuffed, can’t do it, like a mother said he was left handed can’t shoot himself on the right side of his head

So, IF he shot himself, the police are still responsible because they didn't do due diligence in make certain he was not armed. Fools or criminals - take your pick.

The youngman had previous drug arrests and pending warrants. The police handcuffed him an searched him. In their search the police claim that they missed finding a gun on his person. But somehow the handcuffed suspect managed to pull out a gun and kill himself. He had a gun in the back of a police car while handcuffed and, he chose to shoot hmself rather than shoot a police officer? Now, about that oceanfront property Salida, KS.

    Suuure, he shot himself. Not.
You'd think if the police would shoot someone and pretend it was a suicide, they'd at least be smart enough to make it look like he got out of the handcuffs. Idiots.

All over the world police is brutal force only. How come handcuffed man shoot himself
In the fore head. Police should punished for murder.

No human being can shoot himself in the temple while his hands are cuffed behind his back. Even if somehow the pat down search missed the supposedly hidden gun, and he could somehow fish out this phantom weapon, how could he raise it to his head? This is a crude coverup of a police murder.

How can a person shot themselves when their hands are handcuffed? And if the person had a gun, How did it slip pass the eyes of the police officers during the pat-down? This just doesn't add-up!

This needs to be thoroughly investigated. If Carter was able to slide his handcuffed hands down the back of his legs and under his feet his hands would then be in the front. He would have enough reach for a hidden weapon and could have shot himself in the head. The police however would know for sure if he shot himself. His hands would be in front of him and the gun would be right there. Saying they "think" he did isn't believable.

Neither suicide or an intentional shooting by the police makes sense. This may turn out to be an accidental shooting, maybe while an officer was holstering a weapon. If so, lying made things a lot worse.

Hey, guns are dangerous things that often result in deaths, sometimes accidental, sometime not. Being handcuffed in the back of a police car makes the opening lines of
the story apparent that this guy was not just an ordinary citizen walking down the street in
the morining and somehow managed to shoot himself. OK, got the picture. What else is in the news today?

not to start an argument but when I was arrested I wasn't searched at all, not until I was in the check in holding area.....could have easily had a gun but prob would not have shot myself.....though if it was in his back band and he tried to grab it, it could have went off........btw wasn't read my rights either

I pray that this young man's family will fight this tooth and nail. They should contact their city council, the major's office, the NAACP, take it to the media, contact their district congress person, even if they have to call the lawyer that defended Dr. Kevorkian, the great Atty Geoffrey Figer, look him up on the internet, and do what they have to do to bring justice to this case, and hopefully to get rid of rogue cops.

How in the hell can you miss a firearm in a standard search? I find that difficult to believe.

However, I find it even more difficult to believe that the arresting officer executed the suspect and tossed him in the back of his patrol car on the way back to the booking station.
