The news media loves a tragedy. People tune in to watch. Television news, in particular, benefits from its live coverage instead of its in-depth, thoughtful analysis. The TV news only has to show pictures or a live feed of a crime scene to attract millions of viewers. The written media criticizes mass media for its "half-assed reporting." What do you think?

A dozen people are dead. Scores more are injured. Lives have been irrevocably altered. My heart goes out to them.
I feel a strange connection to this tragedy. Batman is important to me. I know that the character is a work of fiction, but it is still something that I care about and am passionate about. Someone took something that should have served as a source of inspiration and escapism, and turned it into something ugly.
As another fan has observed, if Batman stands for anything at all, it is that out of tragedy can come greatness. Let’s be greater.

Sensationalism means their ratings grow-- which means more money for the networks.
TRUTH, however, means a DROP in ratings.
Follow the $$$$$$.

there was no rush to judgement in the two shuttle tragedies and the media was fairly accurate follwing 9/11
Making assumptions before ANY FACTS are gathered.
This is why I never watch MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS.
