H1N1 here Surgical Masks Offshore. Is this a case for reasonable production levels of key products here?

After looking on the CDC (Center for Disease Control) website, there is no definitive consensous that a surgical mask is a viable deterrent to H1N1. That said there are several situations where the CDC does reccommend their use. Currently, there is not the production capacity within the US to meet the potential need.
My question still stands! Suppose for a minute a mask was deemed very effective in the spread of a pandemic illness. Are we not then vunerable if another nation intercepts the product for their own citizens?
Are there cases where manufacturing offshore are not even safe?

You make an excellent point LB. However, I'm not in the least convinced that H1N1 is anywhere near the killer it is reported to be. Frankly, I think this is yet another crisis generated by the fascist government currently in power to cower the masses into accepting their authority. -
Thanks Maxie, and I agree but suppose it was? What if wearing a mask really did knock down a pandemic & a shipment of millions on a sight draft is sitting in Shanghai shows up & requisitions it for their own populace and we're sitting here with our corporate noses in the open air because it meant savings? - +1 raves BlueMax372 littleb... But savings for whom? It's the current fascist administration that really wants to control us or, if they can't accomplish that, kill us.
