Guns Sales Peak in Fear of Gun Control Laws: Is Obama Coming for Your Guns?

President Obama won the election in November 2012 promising that Obama "isn't coming for your guns." However, President Obama recently announced his priority to take on the NRA and the Second Amendment, which caused citizens to flock to gun stores to buy a record number of guns, ammunition and accessories.

The tragic Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, CT has given Obama the chance to change his position by now supporting controversial gun laws. Remember, Rahm Emanuel, then President Obama's Chief of Staff, said, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste." President Obama did not push for gun control legislation after previous tragedies like the Aurora, Colorado shooting or the Gabby Giffords shooting in Arizona. President Obama can now attack the NRA and gun owners without worrying about re-election.

President Obama before the election Jul 22, 2012:
"White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday that the Obama administration has no plans to push new gun control measures in the wake of the deadly shooting rampage at a Colorado movie theater Carney said that includes a reauthorization of the Clinton-era assault-weapon ban that lapsed during the George W. Bush administration...".
Young Turks video criticizing Obama for not pushing for gun control from July 2012 (before election):

President Obama after election: We know this is a complex issue that stirs deeply held passions and political divides. But the fact that this problem is complex can no longer be an excuse for doing nothing.
BLOOMBERG.COM reports:With President Barack Obama endorsing sweeping gun restrictions in the wake of the school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, prices for handgun magazines are surging on EBay and semi-automatic rifles are sold out at many Wal-Mart Stores Inc. locations.

Obama sets January deadline for gun proposals

President Barack Obama stands with Vice President Joe Biden as he makes a statement Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in the Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House in Washington, about policies he will pursue following the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct. Obama is tasking Vice President Joe Biden, a longtime .......gun control advocate, with spearheading the effort.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Spurred by a horrific elementary school shooting, President Barack Obama vowed to send Congress new policy proposals for reducing gun violence by January.
"This time, the words need to lead to action," Obama said Wednesday. He tasked Vice President Joe Biden with leading an administration-wide effort to create the new recommendations and pledged to push for their implementation without delay.

No we are not coming for your guns but we are going to do what the NRA asked for and put a guard in all 360,000 schools and tax your guns at $1000 to pay for it.

Hey it is what the NRA wants so bust out your wallet because you idiots will be paying for it!

At a cost of $100,000 dollars per guard that would equal $36,000,000,000. I know that $100,000 dollars per guard is high but with administrative costs lets just keep that number. What is your child's life worth? If there had been a guard in the Connecticut school there probably would have been a lot fewer deaths, perhaps even zero. Response time would have been seconds instead of ten minutes. How much would those 26 lives be worth?

There are approximately 15,000,000 guns sold in the U.S. every year (give or take a million or two). At your estimate of 4 trillion dollars a year for guards, that would be a surcharge of $266,000 dollars per gun. Even at the real cost per year for guards the surcharge would be $2,400 dollars per gun. To give your child (children) some additional security how much are you willing to contribute? Perhaps you don't value your children's lives enough to fork out some money. With an estimated 110,000,000 (million) households in the U.S. that would come to $327 dollars per household. Less than a dollar a day. Would you be willing to pay a dollar a day to provide your child some additional protection at school?

Get off your high horse and get real. All of you "do-gooders" want to blame guns when that is ...

Get off your high horse and get real. All of you "do-gooders" want to blame guns when that is the least of our problems. Every DAY in the U.S., there are 2200 crimes that are stopped by private citizens with guns, including the saving of many many lives. Violent crime is down by 20% since 1981. Murders are down almost 50% since 1981. As Concealed Carry Rises, Crime Decreases. In short, more guns and an expanding ‘gun culture’ are not creating more crime. If you were a criminal which house would you break into? The house that you suspected had a gun for protection or the house that you knew had no guns?

    Good, those things are stupid.

$300 dollars for a magazine that takes half an hour to load and then jams 10 or more times each attempt to use it.

I'll stick with the 20 & 30 round mags my AR was designed to use.

Personally I would like to see a limi of ten rounds. I think that would be adequate for any legal use.
If a person needs home protection and does not have decent aim a shotgun would be a better option. A 410 or 20 guage doesn't have much kick and they are as deadly as a 10 or 12 guage in close quarters.

But those ten round mags jam a lot more often.

Sorry I'll stick with what is reliable.

As for shotguns, those serve the same purpose as artillery in the military. Fixed position fire.

You do not want to be moving around the home with a shotgun. And you definitely do not want to be trying to carry a shotgun, phone, and trying to move you kids to safety all at once.

The shotgun is waiting ready where ever your safe room is. As you move to it the handgun is a much better choice.

Right. I was a little slow to respond after Newtown to get on line and try to order stuff. "SOLD OUT" was all they could say and that there were so many orders that they have run out of stock on most everything. No magazines, no ammo, no rifles,...
I tried about five different site and it was all the same. I went to a nearby gun store, same story. No semi-auto .223's. They had shotguns but that was about it. They had hand guns but nothing in real rifles. Sold out.
I hope Congress doesn't allow the ban on semi-automatic rifles with a military configuration. What difference does it make if a rifle has a pistol grip?
Here is what we will soon see in the Obama/Feinstein legislation:

    Pistol grip - banned
    BannedWeapon

    Non-pistol grip - legal
    Obama Feinstrin Legal Weapon

    Obama/Feinstein Gun
    Seems fair. Obama Feinstein Gun

I wonder how they are paying for the armed guards in Phily schools, they're been there for quite some time and it has definatly worked. School shooting are down in Philly.
If you do as you suggest, guns will still be purchased, illegally and privately, just like all criminals do. Good luck taxing what is underground.

...but not just Obama, and not quickly and suddenly. Slowly but surely, it's simply what the state does, and I wouldn't be surprised if the recent shooting is ultimately used as an excuse to ram through an incremental measure to shift the balance of power further away from the people and further toward the state.

The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. The meaning of the phrase "A well regulated militia" is a military being kept under control. There is no way to parse the 2nd that makes it have anything to do with hunting or having to ever been a member of the military.

    Doctors:
    (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

    (B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000.

    (C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.

    NOW CONSIDER THIS:

    Guns:
    (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80
    million)

    (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

    (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188

    Statistics courtesy of the FBI

So statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than
    gun owners.

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT Almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor
than as by a gun owner!!!

Now if you have more than one doctor, You're just out of luck!!!

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on Lawyers For fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!
