Guns and Ammo should be free for everyone?

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

...(that sentence doesn't advocate gun laws unless you're in a militia... (there's a huge difference in comma's and fullstops) >.> well that's an off topic observation) Anyway...

The right of the people to keep and bear arms.... so this is a right? Meaning there should be no impediment such as cost right? Of course, licenses are still a good way to go but they should be free right?

Is this not where your tax-dollars are supposed to go? Upholding your constitutional rights? O.o

Ps. No cop out. You're either for or against. Enjoy =P

Haha. Well when it all comes down to it, you're either slightly more for guns for the masses or against guns. You gotta ask yourself, do believe guns are a force of evil or a force for good. On a score from 1 to 100 which one gets closest to 100?

Aren't we all, but shouldn't we all have the ability to make our own choices in life? Should we then not have to face the consequences of our actions calmly and with dignity? Instead of someone trying to take that choice away from us because we 'might' commit a crime?

Interesting take on the 2nd Amendment.

In modern grammerical terms, the 2nd Amendment is very poorly written.

If I get the gist of what you are saying is that all American Citizens are part of what is termed "a well regulated militia, " so as to facilitate the second phrase "being necessary to the security of a free state" and as such the STATE should supply the weapons and ammo to the citizens at no charge which then logically enforces the last phrase "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

VERY interesting POV. Ok you be the test case and deduct the cost of your guns and ammo from your income taxes.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, here. Do you believe that cost (as in, the price of a firearm) is an unconstitutional consideration?
  • Crypt_H... sockpuppet 2012/08/07 05:11:24
    Crypt_Heart
Uhm... (Actually I believe we should melt down ALL guns and ammo and blow bubbles at each other >.> however since I live in the real world and not in the world I want to live in...) yes. I believe that the cost is an inhibiting factor to the implementation of the constitution!

We have a personal right to firearms for individual use, and a collective right to bear arms in a militia. That we may possess firearms does not imply that they must be provided free to any or all of us. Everything in the Constitution is underpinned by property rights. Look it up.

I'd like a thousand word essay on my desk by COB on Friday. :O)
