Gun rights for the U.S? Your thoughts

We all know the beautiful nation of Switzerland, mostly for it's gun laws, and low crime rate. We as well also know the proud nation of Germany, strict gun laws which were reinforced in the 90s, as well as a low crime rate!
I feel we can get something out of both systems, if done the right way.

As for the future, we all know the strain the world is now, to not recognize it is to almost be blind. Being in Switzerland I realize that their geography, preparation, and small population would be prepared for a foreign invasion. Though I also see this for Germany too, with such a high tech military, as well as male conscription which I believe is still in place(Swiss boys are also required for conscription). Germany is also a big country population-wise as compared to Switzerland.

So based on this information, what is best for the U.S?

The Second Amendment, just as the Founders intended, "A well regulated (organized) militia (every armed citizen) being necessary . . . the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed."
Going by the quote above, every single gun law (no matter how mild, minor, or unoffensive) in these uSofA is clearly and completely unconstitutional.

When will the liberal idiots stop, Americans are not going to give up their rights to own guns? Americans do not want to end up like Europe or a third world country ruled by a dictator.

We cannot countermand our Costitution. The point of bearing arms is to protect oneself, not just from burglars or predators, but from dictatorial governments and invasion. See, there are few foreign powers willing to invade a country full of armed citizenry, but more likely to invade when only military, who are mostly overseas, police and criminals are armed.

Every "high Tech" device has a vulnerability. Nothing will ever replace in full hand to hand combat. Punish those that break the law not those that bear by it.

Anyone that's legally allowed to have a gun should be able to have and carry one if qualified. An armed society is a polite and safe society.

There are reasons the first two amendments of our Constitution start with freedom of speech and the right to bare arms.
Our freedom of speech gives us a voice that allows us to tell our Government that "we" do NOT approve of what our trusted servants are doing.
If the Government takes away the Second Amendment, you can say good buy to the First.

Outside of Ex-cons who have no need of a gun. Having a gun and its ammo is Constitutional. Protection against the Government

The constitutions saying the right should not be infringed makes it pretty clear. It is just how it is.

    ALL gun laws are Unconstitutional.

The crime rates skyrocketed in Australia when they started their gun control. They also murdered the 'Crocodile Dundee' guy because he wouldn't give his up.

There is a reason that we have not been bothered too much in the USA by people of Hitlers ilk. We shoot back.
We are not Europe and do not wish to be Europe. That is the reason we left Europe. Get it?

If shall-issue ccw and the castle doctrine were the law everywhere, violent crime as we know it would evaporate within days if not hours. ƒü¢king shame those whose power it was to "make it so" wouldn't take the opportunity to push for it after 9/11.

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” (Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764)

Exactly, I saw a Swiss gun law video and the guy said about the same thing. That it's at the person who responsibly uses its disadvantage.

I'm not sure gun laws are what contributes to a low crime rate. I'm inclined to think it's fine for guns to be legal.

I do agree, I say it's only a joint part of it, but other factors are what actually make it.

Germany had strict gun laws in the 30's as well. Statistics often over simplify and leave out other factors.

Just like any other country, The German people have a right to decide for themselves. I've got no problem with that. My point is that due to a large number of variables, gun laws (and other laws as well) do not have the same results everywhere.
  • PeetFizzy Dan 2012/07/07 17:22:29
    PeetFizzy
Yeah I think it has a lot to do with poverty rather than the gun part. They don't really have that big of a problem there.
