Right o, here's your last creepy creature of the day...
Wait for it...
the Tongue Eating Louse (Cymothoa exigua)
This is actually a parasite, and what it does is attaches itself to the inside of a fishes mouth when it is young; Males enter through the gills, Females enter into the mouth
They grow to adulthood, usually one male behind the female inside the fishes mouth.
This parasite literally sucks alllll of the blood out of the fishes tongue, causing the tongue to rot and fall off. So, the parasite attaches itself to the stub of the tongue, literally becoming the fish's tongue.
They live in the Pacific Ocean, right around the border of California. Now, these aren't harmful to humans unless you hold one while it's alive. In which case, it can and will bite.
