Question US

GREAT ECONOMIC NEWS FOR WORKING AMERICANS -98% have received a tax cut.

right this time August 10, 2009 15:40:16

Nate Silver, the razor sharp statistician who consistently gets it right, has pointed out that taxes have now been cut for 98% of working Americans under the Obama Administration. Nate you may recall was one of the first analysts to not only predict an Obama victory but who pretty much nailed the margin and electoral count. He predicted Norm Coleman would lose the recount in Minnesota and that unemployment would not hit 10% nationally. Though Nate is a pretty humble guy who admits he is just as capable of being wrong I have yet to catch him being wrong on any important national political question. Using his considerable mathematical skills he repeatedly pokes holes in national polls which either contain a bias or which fail simple rules of mathematics. His recent research on Obama's tax cuts puts to rest more lies and disinformation being perpetuated by the wing nuts.

I don't care if most of us did get a tax cut. I am just not ever going to say anything good about this guy.

A tax cut means I get more money in my pay check. Enough to actually appreciate. And then not having the same amount or more get paid out in higher taxes on things I buy. Therefore I have not gotten anything from Obummer, and it is going to get much, much worse!
BTW...real nice biased answers, obama sheep!

President Obama's plans are beginning to work and still all we hear are complaints. Go figure.

Why do they hate this president so much?

Obama promised a tax cut but he didn't tell us he was going to increase our taxes on soda, cigarettes and electricity to name a few. To me it's a wash, at least until we start getting taxed for health care. Then we'll end up in the negative. Sounds like another empty promise to me.

My taxes have been raised on my everyday items so i would have to disagree. Obama already said it wouldn't hit 8% unemployed but now say it will hit ten. I could of told you obama was going to win. That is not brain surgery so what this poll got to do with anything. Other than disinforming people.

I guess I'm in the 2% that didn't get a tax cut. I haven't seen any rise in my net pay and I'm a working American.

Hooray! Obama's economic plan is starting to work.

Well, what do you know. Yet another campaign promise kept. I'm reminded of the dichotomy of the George HW Bush campaign promise:

Then Bush gave the US the second biggest tax hike in history. 56% in gasoline tax alone.

    Way to go President Obama!!

Only half of Americans pay taxes. The cuts Mr. Silver refers to are redistribution of wealth payments. If a don't pay income tax and I get a larger refund it is not a cut it is a redistibution of wealth. A tax cut would mean lowering rates. The administration has not lowered rates only lowered withholdings.

his "tax cuts" only last 1 year. So, next year, everyone's taxes will increase. Then, when the Bush tax cuts expire, everyone's taxes will increase again. If cap and trade passes, the price of everything made from energy (everything) will increase, which is a tax hike, and if healthcare passes, massive Middle Class tax hikes are coming. And, if taxes aren't raised to cut down the $2 trillion current deficit, inflation and interest rates will skyrocket--Obama knows this, so his solution? Tax hikes.
