How irresponsible. He must have wanted to get caught. He could have spent Father's Day with his kids, told his family and staff he wanted a few days off, arranged for the Lieutenant Governor to be in charge and probably no one would have noticed.

I can understand and forgive that in some situations people might have affairs. What I can't forgive is how STUPID they are! He was so reckless. Of course, there is also the hypocritical part (Promise Keeper, family values, moral majority crap).

Excuse me? Protect traditional marriage from God’s gay children who’s partnerships often, very often, last for lifetimes? I personally know dozens who have remained together for 20, 30 45 years while paying taxes, forfeiting most of the 1,042 rights, privileges, protections and responsibilities that come with the “traditional church marriage.” How about protect them from the millions more other than gays, who divorce and cheat on wives or husbands that God’s straight children (in both parties) condone so easily? Besides Clinton, look at John Edwards (D), and Republicans such as Governor Mark Sanford? And a week before, how about Senator John Ensign, Senator David Vitter or Senator Larry Graig? Newt Gingrich, the Republican Speaker of the House, led the charge to impeach Bill Clinton all the while having an affair with a young aid! That news had a lid on it until just about 1 year ago! (all money could buy I suppose)

It appears to me the church’s policy on “traditional” marriage is in threat of those who boast the loudest of their moral superiority. Actually, that doesn’t appear to me or is it simply my opinion, it is fact. People are people and this happens. No one can claim superiority of morals – no one.

My own pastor is outraged at the calls from fundamentalists calling him to sign R-71. He is telling them the truth about gay Americans.

The bottom line is not one gay person is asking for any special rights. DO NOT BACK R-71. Please? Gay people have what the American Psychological and Psychiatric Associations for 37 years call “simply another human characteristic, such as being left handed or the fact that eyes have any colors at all – no genes for those.” Gays have worked blood, sweat and tears ALONGSIDE tens of thousands of straight people in a movement to get equal American civil liberties and protections. And they are being joined by more and more each day, people of power, parents, politicians, church pastors and teachers.

The fact is we are not a Christian National Government. Rather we are a government of ALL people, colors, backgrounds AND human characteristics, who have the freedom to worship in the churches and policies of our choice. And in every social community, every religious tradition, we are people of the Creator still trying to understand morals. Scripture has only two definitions of God. “God is love” and “God is a spirit.” We who call ourselves Christian understand God is too big for us to fully fathom! We are people on our individual spiritual journeys – THAT is one of our commonalities. As Christians, we welcome in the Spirit of Christ, that Spirit of love. We love God and our neighbors as ourselves. We practice kindness. We do unto others as we would have done to us. And we LOVE OUR ENEMIES. Right? We don’t harm them. We don’t deny them. We discern for ourselves what is right for us, individually and we do not judge others.

The Washington "everything but marriage" act is a step, but even by virtue of its name, it promotes a seperate but equal intity. It too is not enough.

    Right?

You don't know the meaning of "dumb." Eight years of a total incompetent in the White House should have taught you that.

I believe someone actually made this behavior O.K., didn't he? But, the phoney biting his lip and finger wagging was enough to make it fine with the rest of his party.
With that said, if they lie, throw them out...if they cheat, throw them out...if they steal, prosecute them and then throw them out, ALL OF THEM!! The current 'president' included.
I want trustworthy, moral, decent respectable representation, the rest can fight over what mail room they are qualified to work in.

Well, when Billy Boy Clinton degraded the office. The comments from liberals were that powerful men had powerful appetites. Now, was pretty much silent, so I don`t think any of them should fuss. The Repub`s might decide it`s time to clean up their act. Then again the Gov. may actually be a good man who fell into temptation. None-the-less who is without any transgressions that can condemn him ?

And all those self-righteous Republicans, many of whom have transgressed themselves, screaming for Clinton's impeachment. Sanford may be a good man, in some sense, but he abdicated his responsibilities as governor when he took off for 7 days and no one could find him. Those are grounds for dismissal.

Don't compare that to Cliton. Clinton did not disappear from office for several days with no one knows about his where abouts. The complaints about the governer are due to deserting his responsibility and leaving his state in dasarray. I don't give a damn about his love affairs. That's between him and his wife. In addition all those faithfulls who attacked Clinton such as the Newt had worst affairs than Clinton. The Newt was cheating on his wife while she was sick and same time was hollering about in-morality of Clinton. They were hypocretes and I don't doubt you are also one of them.

Republicans disliked Clintons extra marital affairs (which is a long time habit apparently); Democrats disliked his weasily ways of denying, then admitting, and embarrassing the party. I disliked his sleazy hillbilly ways. The French admired him. Again, the way he turned Neoliberal was his greatest offense, and good riddance.

He (Clinton) degraded his office with his neoliberal republican policies (Clinton) - look how buddy buddy he is with the Bush cartel these days...birds of a feather...I did not vote for his second term due to his turn to the Right. Sanford needs to be dumped for dereliction of duty while in office, not for being a hypocritical loudmouthed familyhating creep.

Well, well, isn't he the repubican governor who refused the stimulus money? In other words saying.. the hell with the poor people in his state! Nice guy! Jerk! So he goes AWOL for five days out of the country without appointing a substitute to take over in his absence. He told no one where he was going....I guess he went on citizen's dollar too! In my opinion he needs to ditch the 18 months he has left and resign. He abandoned his post. He deserted his job and left no word to where he was going. The first person he mentioned he was sorry he hurt was the girlfirend... But you know every man in a powerful position will give up the woman never the position. He should have known better. I mean he certainly has had enough examples as of late in the republcan party.. ie. Craig, Spitzer to name a couple.....I certainly don't feel sorry for him..
