We need to ELIMINATE the EPA, Department of Education, H.U.D., Department of Commerce, Homeland Security (FBI anyone?) and a number of other giant wasteful bureaucracies that are an enormous lead anchor which drags the bottom and inhibits the American economy.
The EPA's job of limiting pollution could be done by local and federal law enforcement without increasing staff at all.

It’s no secret our nation is overwhelmed by red ink. So what’s the latest Washington brain storm to save us from slipping under the surface of a deficit-drowning pool?
Edging us toward possibly drowning in actual oceans of toxic sludge and rising tides by slashing the budget of the Environmental Protection Agency.
As the White House and House of Representatives face off in a showdown to see who can slash more programs to reduce the deficit, NPR reports that the Republican House majority's big idea is to drastically slash the EPA’s ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions with spending cuts that the liberal radio network said “steamrolls the Obama administration's environmental policy.”
The House spending bill slashes the EPA budget by almost one-third, more than any other government agency, while gutting its ability to prevent water and air pollution and enforce environmental laws.
"They have essentially unleashed war against the EPA, and in doing so, they are going to hurt the American people. And we have to stop it," said Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, head of the Senate Environment Committee.
Republican Rep. Mike Simpson, head of the subcommittee responsible for the EPA's budget, responded that the House bill addresses Republican concerns that the EPA’s actions have cost jobs.
Among the amendments being offered are ones that would block the EPA’s ability to restore the historic Chesapeake Bay and Florida Everglades, clean up toxic coal ash waste and rein in destructive mountaintop coal mining.
It’s worth noting that Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo, who has close ties to oil and gas giant Koch Industries, is the man behind the amendment to gut the EPA, notable since the cuts would greatly benefit the company that stands to make great gains if pollution regulations are diminished.
Can we afford to cut the EPA this deeply?

I'll keep my clean air and water.
its exactly what major industrial corporations wet dreams are made of, ways to eliminate toxic waste or harmful spills clean up spending, do you know how much money oilfield companies alone spend on cleaning and disposing of salt water, radiation, oil spills, etc? there are companies that provide this services. without governmental regulations, lots of people could be left unemployed...

Another gov't agency that has grown too big for it's britches.
Put a cap on the EPA before they deem illegal, what I exhale.
because he couldn't pass a greenhouse gas law, he was enabling the EPA to do it administratively? and that steamrolls OBAMA's ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY?!?!? i'd call that the only defense the House could use, short of coming to some understanding WITH Obama.
and then, of course, that ahole Boxer says "They have essentially unleashed war against the EPA,...'. I would ask who fired the first shot? Obama and Lisa Jackson.
I watched The Untouchables' this weekend. all i can think when i read this story is' just like a dumb _____ to bring a knife to a gunfight.'
fill in the blank...
Money trumps all.
The assumption from Ms. Deep as a Puddle is that if you agree that the EPA is out of control and needs to be reined-in, you are a heartless money grubber who doesn't care if people die from pollution.
That thinking is fine for Sesame Street, it fails in the real world, where we are AFFLICTED by an out-of-control government that is doing horrendous damage to the America economy. And the EPA is one of the enforcement arms of the Statist assault on our way of life.
