Google Search: Bush Honors Fallen Soldiers... surprise

Today Obama stopped at the Dover Air Force Base to salute the caskets of fallen US Military soldiers as they returned to the US from Afghanistan.

As a leader, it is important that he set the tone for nation in our attitude toward our military heroes. However some disparage the president for making a photo op out of it. This is an unavoidable consequence of displaying leadership, you have to photograph and record the event so it can be shared. However acting as a leader is far more important than avoiding appearance of a photo-op.

I was certain that Bush also honored the fallen soldiers, so i googled it. I was very surprised by the response.

Bush's policies were to allow the nation look the other way at the cost of war. The cost to the wifes and children of these fallen soldiers. That is what he decided to do, right or wrong. Obama has decided to embrace all aspects of our wars. And to take time and stop to honor them.

It is the least our president should to. It should be a requirement that the Commander-In-Chief face the consequences of his commands on those under his command.

embrace aspects wars honor president requirement commander-in-chief consequences commands command
You!

Good Job Obama, keep up the good work and keep pissing off the RWNJ's, build our Unions back to the strength they once were when American was the srongest and most Admired country on our Planet, Give hard working Americans that break their backs for the greedy ass Repubs, Give them back the voice and pay, and health care we all used to have. The vacation pay, the sick leave, the overtime pay that Unions brought to the middle class of this country. If the greedy wants the chinese crap that flood our markets, well how about we ship them to China and leave our good paying jobs in America.

Well. I see that the internet news has been altered as I personally know someone who was with GW on several trips to Dover (flew him there). That's pathetic, they was to stop or access to the net, I guess it's because they are afraid at some point they will miss something truthful about GW and especially BO.

    "the internet" was altered? incredible.

All the right wing blogs are still there, they are not altered, if they have some articles about bush honoring fallen soldiers, its out there. Maybe if you search with different words you might find something.

My only point is that when searching for Bush, i found more stuff about Obama. That is all.

Super post, Sal. Too bad the Obama-haters are trying to turn it in to a photo op. I guess the American people just aren't yet used to a president that actually has a heart and compassion for the American people.

Oh - and let's not forget that they are just too embarrassed to admit that their precious Bush neglected to do so.

I think you know better. Bush just didn't use the occasion for photo-ops.

    Randy,

Neither did Obama, it is the media that focuses on Obama and not the troops. Obama did not control the presence of the media at this transfer, it is up to the families, and he was with many families that did not want any cameras there. Just so happens that one family did.

    FTA:

    Speaking to the relatives
By many accounts, it was a difficult night.

After a 40-minute helicopter ride around midnight to the Delaware base where U.S. personnel killed overseas come home, Obama went immediately to a chapel to speak with relatives of the fallen. Their loved ones had died just two or three days before.

Of the 18 fallen Americans on the C-17, 10 of them — including three Drug Enforcement Administration agents — were killed Monday when a U.S. military helicopter crashed returning from a firefight with suspected Taliban drug traffickers in western Afghanistan.

No, Bush NEVER went there. NEVER. Nor did Cheney. Trying to say that he did it - just not for cameras - is a total untruth. Check it out for yourself. NEVER, in 8 years. Isn't that pathetic?

How many families did he see? I think if he did go to Dover you wouldn't know about it. Unlike Obama who has his own entourage, including Press and especially photographers, image, you know counts for all with Obama.

families dover obama entourage press photographers image counts obama

randy, are you trying to say that the President Press Corp, which every US president Has including Bish and Reagan and Clinton and Lydon Johnson, is now somehow a capability solely of Obama's administration?

That some how bush moved around the country and did things that the press had no idea of? that is a truly remarkable and unintelligent thing to propose.

The last time a Elected Official of Executive power went somewhere and did something that the press did not know about was South Carolina's governor Mark Sanford, who was, as you know "hiking the Appalachian trail."

The media black out on this lil state governor caused the media to all but guess dead on about his impropriety.

Their is nothing these officials do that is not in the eye of the media. Sorry bush simply ingored the fallen soldiers and the true cost of his war of choice.

Think about what you typed? If the President of the United States doesn't want you around, you won't be. How many times did you hear about Bush visiting wounded soldiers or the families without pictures? That's why you know the Democrats apparently don't visit the wounded or the families, no pictures. You mention Sanford, someone hardly anyone had ever heard of. John Edwards sound familiar?

You are arguing from silence. you want to use the lack of evidence as evidence. it just does not work that way.

Edwards was a lowely senator. Sanford was a governor.

Edwards, Presidential candidate. I realize somewhere along the way you must have heard about the Bush meeting of parents of fallen solders and his visits to the wounded. On second thought, you are a liberal, so I assume you could care less about our troops. I would imagine you ignore news of our troops out of habit. I like the lowly Senator angel. I always thought Senator was a step up, considering that's where governors move to after they're terms are over. Charlie Crist comes to mind.
