Does this really surprise anyone? I mean if someone gets in trouble and you bail them out without any type of sincere understanding of the penalty the message you send is we will be here to help you out every time you get in trouble. It's like a drug addict that gets bailed out by his parents - it doesn't stop the addiction so the root of the problem persists.

Right now, the government’s GM stock is worth about 39% less than it was on November 17, 2010, when the company went public at $33.00/share. However, during the intervening time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has risen by almost 20%, so GM shares have lost 49% of their value relative to the Dow.

There ya go...they should stick with Communist China some more. Jerks. No more money for these thieves.

GM is union owned. Oslime will throw billions at them before he's ousted next January ...and they will still fail.

I thought these people believed in Darwinism?

If so, then GM was destined to win this year's Darwin Award and go out of business! IKF their business model was unsuccessful, they should have changed it into what the consumer wanted, or go the way of the Dodo.

And all of OUR money the politicians wasted on GM's alleged recovery should be returned to taxpayer. If they can't find the money, then we should be authorized to liquidate THEIR holdings until we get our money back!

They should have gone into bankruptcy, sold to private investors and they as well as the taxpayers would be in far better shape. Now that the government has their hand in it, they will be just like the post office, needing tax payer money to keep afloat !

This country is in desperate need of someone that understands business and it sure
as hell is not Obama ! ! !

The federal government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM, or about 26% of the company. It would need to get about $53.00/share for these to break even on the bailout, but the stock closed at only $20.21/share on Tuesday. This left the government holding $10.1 billion worth of stock, and sitting on an unrealized loss of $16.4 billion. Tax payers money and interferance with running it government's nose init And Obama says he wants to do this with other industries !!!!!!!!! With more borrowed money with interest to China Good idea????? NOT !!!!!!!

Toyota regained its top spot over taking General Motors (NYSE:$GM) as the largest auto selling company in the world. 2.27 million vehicles in the quarter left dealer lots, which is an increase of 85.8% the same period in 2011. In its biggest market, North America, it sold staggering 141% more cars, helped by two and a half fold increase in production in the region. They achieved this even in the face of improving quality from U.S. manufacturers like Ford (NYSE:$F) and the hostility of the Obama administration which has worked tirelessly to publicly erode Toyota’s brand loyalty with U.S. consumers, some of which was earned. That said, it is on pace to sell more cars in N. America than they have since 2008.

Try again Toyota #1 in sales in America and #1 in the world still 10 years running. GM may make more vehicles world wide they just can't convince anyone with a brain to buy one. You don't happen to own a GM do you ? Oh sorry
