This from the sort of people who want to meter your WATER in your HOTEL to save energy!
If that were my conference, I'd book it in Tel Aviv, which is as close to an aviation centroid of the world as you can get. Then I would tell people to get to the nearest airport served by El Al, by train or bus or minivan, and then fly El Al, by special charter if we have to, instead of buzzing in with all those corporate jets. And once they'd landed, I'd have buses waiting for them to take them to their hotels. I've been there. It would be the perfect place. You could even ask the Israelis, who live with drought nine months out of every twelve, what it's like, and how they cope.
But NO-OOOO. You saw what they did instead. And even then, why didn't they lay on some special trains to take the conferees to downtown Copenhagen? And in a city that means "bicycles," why didn't they arrange bicycle tours of Copenhagen? The fact of the matter is that that conference had the biggest carbon footprint that they could possibly have had, in direct contradiction to their stated object.
But we know what their real object is: control. And that means "Do as we say, not as we do." The conference blew up after the Chinese didn't get a big enough bribe.

Please don't hit me with the UN/International study that has been proven to have been played with and the numbers a skewed to prove a mindset not a fact.

"New satellite data reveals that Himalayan glaciers are melting far more SLOWLY than predicted"
"Previously, it had been claimed that Himalayan glaciers would have melted to a fifth of current levels by 2035, leading to sea level rises and drought."
"Those predictions used ground-based measurements, whereas the new study measured the effect of gravity on twin Nasa satellites to give an accurate measure of the mass of ice being lost.
‘The results in this region really were a surprise,’ said Wahr.
‘One possible explanation is that previous estimates were based on measurements taken primarily from some of the lower, more accessible glaciers in Asia and were extrapolated to infer the behavior of higher glaciers.'
'But unlike the lower glaciers, many of the high glaciers would still be too cold to lose mass, even in the presence of atmospheric warming.’

"Media Ignore Al Gore’s Financial Ties to Global Warming
By Noel Sheppard | March 02, 2007 | 10:58
As NewsBusters reported here, here, and here, there are huge dollars to be made from global warming alarmism. However, conceivably no one is better positioned to financially benefit from this scam than Dr. Global Warming himself, former Vice President Al Gore, a fact that the media will surely not share with Americans any time soon.
Yet, if America’s press would take some time out of their busy schedules covering the earth-shattering details surrounding Anna Nicole Smith’s demise, they might find a deliciously inconvenient truth about the soon-to-be-Dr. Gore that is significantly more fascinating and diabolical than anything likely to emerge from that courtroom in Broward County, Florida.
As reported by Dan Riehl (emphasis mine throughout):
Former Vice President Al Gore has built a Green money-making machine capable of eventually generating billions of dollars for investors, including himself, but he set it up so that the average Joe can't afford to play on Gore's terms. And the US portion is headed up by a former Gore staffer and fund raiser who previously ran afoul of both the FEC and the DOJ, before Janet Reno jumped in and shut down an investigation during the Cli...

As reported by Dan Riehl (emphasis mine throughout):
Former Vice President Al Gore has built a Green money-making machine capable of eventually generating billions of dollars for investors, including himself, but he set it up so that the average Joe can't afford to play on Gore's terms. And the US portion is headed up by a former Gore staffer and fund raiser who previously ran afoul of both the FEC and the DOJ, before Janet Reno jumped in and shut down an investigation during the Clinton years.
Think Katie, Charlie, or Brian will be all over this tonight? Regardless, that was just the tip of the questionably melting iceberg as reported by Bill Hobbs in Nashville, Tennessee:
[H]ow Gore buys his "carbon offsets," as revealed by The Tennessean raises serious questions. According to the newspaper's report, Gore buys his carbon offsets through Generation Investment Management:
Gore helped found Generation Investment Management, through which he and others pay for offsets. The firm invests the money in solar, wind and other projects that reduce energy consumption around the globe...
Gore is chairman of the firm and, presumably, draws an income or will make money as its investments prosper. In other words, he "buys" his "carbon offsets" from himself, through a transaction designed to boost his own investments and return a profit to himself. To be blunt, Gore doesn't buy "carbon offsets" through Generation Investment Management - he buys stocks.
Fascinating. So, as Dr. Global Warming travels the world in his private jet while spending 20 times the average American on energy for his home, all the time telling us its okay because he’s buying carbon offsets, he’s actually purchasing these investments from himself.
Furthermore, and maybe more important, Gore stands to benefit financially in a potentially huge way if more and more people buy into this junk science.
Isn’t that special?
Yet, it is not clear that Gore’s money is going to purchase carbon offsets at all. Riehl reported:
Here's a list indicating what it takes to make money along with Al. Funds associated with these companies have placed millions of dollars under Al Gore's control. And, as you'll see below, Gore's selection for the US President of GIM might raise a few eyebrows as well.
AFLAC INC - AQUANTIVE INC - AUTODESK INC - BECTON DICKINSON & CO BLACKBAUD INC - GENERAL ELECTRIC CO - GREENHILL & CO INC - JOHNSON CTLS INC - LABORATORY CORP AMER HLDGS - METABOLIX INC - NORTHERN TR CORP - NUVEEN INVTS INC -STAPLES INC - SYSCO CORP - TECHNE CORP - UBS AG - VCA ANTECH INC - WATERS CORP - WHOLE FOODS MKT INC
According to their own documents, GIM intends to invest in, or buy companies poised to cash in on Global Warming concerns.
Putting this in perspective, for years the left and their media minions have posited that George W. Bush started war with Iraq to benefit the company Vice President Dick Cheney used to run, Halliburton, as well as Bush’s oil tycoon friends. In fact, there have been times when you couldn’t swing a dead cat in any pressroom in this nation without hitting a reporter working on such a story.
Yet, as the former Vice President continues to plug global warming as a coming crisis in need of immediate attention, the same media completely ignore his obvious financial conflicts of interest.
No liberal media bias there.
However, as Riehl pointed out, this story is even juicier:
To add insult to injury, Gore chose Peter S. Knight, an old friend and colleague some are sure to recall, as the US President of GIM.
Peter S. Knight, formerly Managing Director Met West Financial, lawyer, Chief of Staff for Senator Al Gore (D-TN) from 1977-1989, and Campaign Manager for President Clinton's successful re-election in 1996, is President of Generation U.S.
This would be him: Reno Rejects Inquiry Into a Clinton Aide
Atty Gen Janet Reno decides against any further investigation of Peter Knight, Pres Clinton's 1996 campaign manager in connection with office building development in nation's capital; such an investigation could have led to naming independent counsel to look further into activities of Knight, who is also former top assistant to Vice Pres Al Gore.
Yes, thanks to Janet Reno, no one ever found out how $20,000 in stock turned up in an account for Knight's then 13 year old child.
Dispute over Democratic Party campaign-financing shifts to Zachary Knight, 13-year-old son of Peter S Knight, Clinton-Gore campaign chairman in 1996, who was given $20,000 in stock by William Haney 3d, chairman of Molten Metal Technology Inc; Republicans believe gift, which came after father was named chairman of campaign, was really payment to Knight, who had worked as $7,000-per-month lobbyist for company; Knight denies involvement in any impropriety; photo
Riehl accurately asked:
If Gore's motivation in pushing Global Warming is so altruistic, was it really necessarily for the already wealthy Gore to establish a multi-million dollar corporation in England to cash in? And given the history of Gore and Knight, are these people we should trust to drive a re-vamping of the world economy at the same time they're lining their pockets because of our much smaller carbon footprints?
Riehl marvelously concluded:
If Al Gore is successful with this latest scheme, Gore and his cronies are going to be much more $green$ than most of the earth. And the only green in this for you and me is the kind that accompanies envy as Gore trucks around on private jets putting dollars to offset his extravagance into a cash machine generating profits on the backs of the middle class with misrepresented science that doesn't deserve to be called science at all.
Meanwhile, a complacent media, rather than hounding Gore over his financial conflicts of interest, continue to shill for this conman’s junk science.
When you add it all up, this is a flimflam of epic proportions:
First, Gore sets up a company that will invest in other companies that will benefit from global warming alarmism
Second, Gore gets some Hollywood types to fund and produce a movie designed to scare the c-c-carbon out of the population
Third, Gore travels the world promoting this movie, while pushing the view that a cataclysm is imminent if the world doesn't immediately act
Fourth, an adoring media falls for the con hook, line, and sinker. Rather than debunking the flaws in the theories, the media promote every word of it while advancing the concept that Gore's views represent those of an overwhelming majority of scientists
Fifth, scared governments and citizens across the globe invest in alternative energy programs driving up the shares of companies Gore's group has already invested in
Sixth, Gore and his cronies make billions as they laugh all the way to the bank at the stupidity of their fellow citizens
America -- what a country!"

I'm also not convinced that our scientific methods of determining the age in years of fossils, bones etc is an exact science.
However, I'm more inclined to think of global warming as a hoax.
If Microsoft funds a study in search of "The Best PC Operating System", is it any surprise that the winner is Microsoft? Did anyone not know this before the first dollar was spent? If Apple funds an equivalent study at the same time and Apple wins, is anyone really surprised? Will the people conducting the research keep their jobs if they can't match their findings with the expectations of their sponsors?
Climate research is hopelessly tainted by money on both sides. Depending on where your money comes from, the "right" results are 180 degrees apart. On one side we have governments (and the UN) drooling over carbon taxes and redistribution of wealth. On the other side we have industries that generate CO2. Follow the money behind any study on climate change and it leads back to sources that are as predictable as my example of Microsoft and Apple.

Maybe global warming is man-made and can be controlled, maybe it isn't or it can't. Either way, expect zero cooperation from the developing world. Any CO2 output that is cut in the US will magically reappear somewhere else. The number one (and fastest growing) producer of CO2 is China. They are building over 50 new coal-fired electric plants every year. That's roughly one per WEEK! Does anyone really think that a government that had to impose rolling blackouts in Beijing so Olympic athletes could breathe is really interested in limiting their carbon emissions?
I like to think that global warming is a scam. Because if it isn't, someone has to do something about China and it's just not going to happen.
In the middle ages, the earth was warmer than it is now.
And one other little thing. In order to have a greenhouse effect, CO2 MUST be greater than 5% of the atmosphere. But CO2 is less than 1% of the atmosphere
Belittle the truth as well. As for radiation physics, why does CO2 reflect heat onto the earth, but not back into space? Does CO2 line up in the atmosphere like little soldiers to create a one way mirror?
CO2 is negligible when it comes to the greenhouse effect. What really causes it is water vapor. However, I'm sure you already knew that.
:-) Have a nice day
1) CO2 does not reflect heat, it absorbs infrared radiation from the Earth at specific frequencies. As it absorbs infrared radiation, it gets warmer, and reemits radiation according to the Boltzmann distribution. It radiates equally in all directions. But it blocks infrared radiation from the Earth from reaching outer space, preventing Earth from cooling as effectively.
2) Before you can say CO2 is negligible to the greenhouse effect, you need to understand what the greenhouse effect is. CO2 is transparent to solar radiation, but has a big absorption band smack in the middle of the frequency band where terrestrial objects emit. By definition, it is a greenhouse gas.
3) H2O is a more powerful greenhouse gas because it is more plentiful, that is true. But H2O is in equilibrium in the atmosphere over a time period of weeks thanks to the hydrological cycle. CO2, on the other hand accumulates over time. The CO2 cycle involves ocean circulation and plate subduction and takes millions of years to reach equilibrium. That's why adding H2O to the atmosphere has no effect on the global climate, but adding CO2 does.
4) Just because this is an opinion site, doesn't mean that 2+2=5 just because you like it that way.
CO2 is not a more powerful greenhouse gas than H2O vapor.
Have you ever done any experimentation yourself?
I do some infrared spectroscopy as part of my job, so I am familiar with the CO2 and H2O infrared spectral bands and what happens when test chambers are not adequately purged to remove the air. So yes, I have hands on familiarity with how these gases interact with temperature and infrared radiation.
Oh wait! There's a meteorologist listed - at the very bottom. I almost missed him. The only one in the group who might actually know something about climate systems work and they list him at the bottom AND he's only got five years on the job.
You'd think they could do better than that, but then if there are any climatologists working for NASA perhaps they had a reason for not including their names with this letter.
Isaac Newton, who invented the calculus, did not have a degree in math.
By your standards, unless you have a degree in climatology or the like, you are not even qualified to comment.
Good response
That kind of sends a message.
Also,; how does Al Gore know more about this than onyone else?
Don't forget to pay ALGORE or the U.N. also. They want thier cut.
That's because a huge number of Americans live in Red States. A huge number of Red States are powered by coal. A huge number of Red States powered by coal have sustained terrible onslaughts of really bad weather including tornadoes, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, excessive rain, flooding, snow, and other weather related phenomenon apparently due to too much moisture in the atmosphere. How's the Mississippi Valley doing these days?
Too much moisture in the atmosphere comes from too much evaporation over the oceans that comes from a bit more carbon in the atmosphere trapping a tad more heat than the oceans are used to.
I suspect those folks living in the Red States who five years ago would never have given credence to the idea of man-made global warming are now changing their minds.
They are, after all, the direct recipients of the Hammer of God. And it's going to get worse. A lot worse.
They are farmers and ranchers and farmers and ranchers have to adapt to the weather. The weather won't adapt to them. They don't like what's happening and will go their graves before admitting we've done this to ourselves, but they will adapt. They will do so...

They will do so without EVER admitting man-made climate change because their religious beliefs preclude the idea man can intrude on God's workings.
They're getting the idea that there may be something to this. Probably too late to do any good, but they're getting the idea.
They will adapt. Too late for them probably. But how about you?
The weather is replying for me.
Ask anyone in the Red States.
