It seems that there is
information coming out of the US State department that Turkey is behind
the push to get Greece out of the Euro and the the EuroZone. Apparently,
German Chancellor Merkel and Turkey's Prime Minister Ertogan (with
Pres. Obama's backing) have agreed to move Turkey into the EuroZone
immediately after Greece gets kicked out. Turkey has been bankrolling
the far-left Syriza because their inexperienced 37 year old leader has
repeatedly stated that if in power, Greece will stop payments on the
loans and break all contracts with the EU. This will give Merkel the
cover she needs to throw Greece out and the excuse to put Turkey, one of
the strongest economies, into the Eurozone to bring stability to the
Euro.

Turkey's money will make up for any short term losses from the GrExit
because no matter what, Greece will still owe that money to the EU.
Turkey will then get ALL of Greece's tourism and the EU will back
Turkey's decades old claims to the Petroleum in the Aegean.

President Obama is 100% behind the Greece/Turkey switch because if the
Euro falls, so do his chances at re-election. Besides that, Mr. Obama's
poll numbers in the Arab world have fallen lower than Former President
Bush's and this will help get more of the Arab-American vote by
supporting the first Muslim nation into the Eurozone.

I thought the EU idea was bad from the beginning. Sound financial Countries (Germany) have to carry the weight of Socialist Countries (France, Spain, Italy, Greece).

It's just a mess. I wish the EU would just disband altogether and let the Euros fall where they may.

The Greeks are dragging down the Euro Zone and have been on a long downhill trajectory since the Peloponnesian War. However, their exit from the EU would doubtless have a major ripple effect throughout the world banking system and would probably result in a major stock market correction.

It sure looks like the plan is to kick Greece out. If the EU thinks they can get another stronger nation in, and help out, they'll do it in a heartbeat. My guess is Greece will be a bargain for US tourists.

I don't know about Turkey but I do thing if Turkey was smart they'd stay far away from the EU and the Euro. As far as Greece goes sometimes you have to get rid of the bad apple before the whole barrel is bad.

I don't see a connection between Greece possibly leaving the EU and Turkey entering it. I think both countries will be part of the EU on the long term.

Germany, with a ton of Turks living there has always wanted Turkey in the EU. Besides that, Turkey has a strong economy and could help in future bail outs of Italy, Spain and Portugal.

But Greece was always vetoing Turkey getting in the EU but now, Merkel will have an excuse to get rid of Europe's albatross. Turkey is backing the lunatic Tsipras because he has delusions of getting out of the EU and magically NOT owing any money.

Turkey is bankrolling him because as soon as Tsipras takes over, Merkel has an excuse to kick Greece out and then she can propose Turkey and it's strong economy join asap to stabilize the Euro.

Never let a good crisis go to waste.

This would be a catastrophe for Greece.

They have to go back to a devalued Drachma. Food and gas prices will skyrocket because Greece will have zero credit and anything they import will cost 50x plus they will have to pay cash upfront. And the sad thing is, is that they import 95% of all basic necessities.

And the irony of it all is that the Greek people don't realize that they will STILL owe the EU for the loans they have already received but they will owe 10x more because they will be repaying with a devalued Drachma.

It was a naive mistake to let countries like Greece enter the Eurozone. German Federal Minister of Finance Schäuble already knew that in 1994. He only wanted a "core-europe" to get the Euro, but the French were pushing the "Club Med" into the Euro too.

Now Greece is completely skrewed. They have to start new and reform their corrupt country, with or without the euro.
