Germany Rejects Obama’s Calls To Fight Euro Debt Crisis: “Mr. Obama Should Take Care Of Reducing America’s Deficit, Which Is Higher Than The Eurozone’s”…

JT For Political Reform 2012/06/26 11:40:15

BERLIN (AP)
— Germany’s finance minister is rejecting U.S. President Barack Obama’s
calls on Europe to move faster in fighting its debt crisis, telling him
to get the American deficit under control instead.

Wolfgang Schaeuble told public broadcaster ZDF in an interview late
Sunday that “people are always very quick at giving others advice.”

He says: “Mr. Obama should first of all take care of reducing the American deficit, which is higher than in the eurozone.”

Obama and other leaders fear an escalating crisis in Europe could drag down the world economy.

The 17-nation eurozone is struggling to overhaul its institutions and
streamline its decision making to restore investors’ confidence. The bloc’s debt relative to its economic output stands at about 80 percent, while it is about 100 percent in the U.S.

I think that a constructive dialogue would be more efficient. Programmes and initiatives should be studied thoroughly and questioned regarding their sustainability. Going forward to the headlong flight into saving at every price is not a solution.

The only problem with that is what has happened for the last 230 years and getting worse. The fact that they all study the situation at the expense of the tax payer and in the end screw it up worse. We need actions, we have seen enough studies.
  • Marianne JT For ... 2012/06/26 21:35:25

Sure that action is needed, but all the recent ones were more or less flops, due to irrational studies. All Greece is demonstrating and might get out of control! There is no sufficient support for the many SME's throughout Europe, proposing innovations, niche products and new or alternative technologies, especially in the environment and service sector and neither a concrete turn of the big ones toward more sustainability in all respects. How will governments collect taxes, if with their present saving policy, they kill millions of jobs and foster a growing number of working poor and unemployed, unable to pay them? Good policy needs a thorough preparation before application and not a series of erroneous action.

Since all nations now print fiat money and issue fiat debt, the only restraint is the false believe that somehow they'll get away with speeding up the presses. So when the dominoes fall, they're all lined up and waiting their turn.

America is on track to go bankrupt. Just like Greece. The signs are all around us. We've lost our AAA credit rating. Trillion dollar deficits are the new normal.

The Fed is buying 61% of our own debt. Barack Obama's 10 year budget will leave Americans with “more debt than has been accumulated by all previous Presidents in American history combined.” Nobody on the Right seems to believe we'll ever pay off all of the money we owe.

Life as we know it is very close to ending and yet Americans seem to be infected with a tragic stoicism. Like turkeys being led to the slaughter, most Americans seem content to put their necks down on the butcher's block and wait for the ax to fall. There are reasons for this puzzling inactivity in the face of an avertable catastrophe.
