BERLIN (AP) -- Germany's finance minister is rejecting U.S. President Barack Obama's calls on Europe to move faster in fighting its debt crisis, telling him to get the American deficit under control instead.

Wolfgang Schaeuble told public broadcaster ZDF in an interview late Sunday that "people are always very quick at giving others advice."

He says: "Mr. Obama should first of all take care of reducing the American deficit, which is higher than in the eurozone."

Obama and other leaders fear an escalating crisis in Europe could drag down the world economy.

The 17-nation eurozone is struggling to overhaul its institutions and streamline its decision making to restore investors' confidence. The bloc's debt relative to its economic output stands at about 80 percent, while it is about 100 percent in the U.S.

Now that you mention it that constant liberal talking point about how the U.S. is respected in the world once again hasn't been getting much play lately.

So what's next? Germany hates him because of his color? Dammit! Does that make them all racist? You know he couldn't have been slapped down because of his failed policies, that would never happen.

The bloom is off the rose! Where are those crowds in Berlin that greeted him as the new world savior? They woke dafuq up, that's what! Now they are saying: "Herr Obama. Bitte setzen Sie ihr eigenes Haus in Ordnung."

How true. I believe Obama was actually depressed that the Russians didn't suck up to him at the latest G20. He figured the Russians owed him big time for the unilateral dumping of missile defense. O wanted them to quit arming Syria so they sent a few dozen extra attack helicopters to rub in the fact that he is an irrelevant wimp.

The German economy is startling to slide back into depression because they have no one to export to. And Moody's said they are going to be downgraded if Greece doesn't start to turn around soon.

Further the scumbag Romney advisory wrote a German Language article in a German news paper telling Germany to take certain actions that would hurt the American economy.

Germany also has a massive amount of debt.

Germany has to deal with other EU members and since the US is not one their advice is easily dismissed.

President Obama is not the only leader to have words on the matter. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair commented this last Saturday that the euro will only survive if Germany underwrites the debts of the eurozone’s financially struggling members.

My favorite solution is for Germany to quit the Euro. Problem solved.

The devalued Euro would help the other European nations export more and Germany would benefit from the cheap EU imports for a while. That is the way the world is supposed to work.

Actually what I said makes no sense since it goes against the empire building self interest of Germany, but I had to say it. Germany finally found a way to conquer Europe

lol....I think the days of empire building went the way of uncle Adolf. The EU is a joke. Every country, even in the EU, has their own monetary policies, their own culture, and their own outlooks on life. Should it be any wonder that Britain, Switzerland, and the Nordic countries didn't even bother to sign up? Every country should have its own currency with its own monetary policy. That way Europeans can adequately compete for resources (and tourist dollars) and if one country goes the way of Iceland then so be it. It won't affect the entire planet.

The fact is, whether Obama haters want to admit it or not, Europe (and Germany cannot escape that it is one of the prime partners in it) is in much worse shape than the US is.
Investment is now moving from Europe to the US, since despite our own problems, we are increasingly seen as the safer bet. The downturn of Europe will affect us yes, but in a surprising way it is also benefiting us. The world has gone back to investing here instead of Europe.
