BERLIN (AP) -- Germany's finance minister is rejecting U.S. President Barack Obama's calls on Europe to move faster in fighting its debt crisis, telling him to get the American deficit under control instead.

Wolfgang Schaeuble told public broadcaster ZDF in an interview late Sunday that "people are always very quick at giving others advice."

He says: "Mr. Obama should first of all take care of reducing the American deficit, which is higher than in the eurozone."

Obama and other leaders fear an escalating crisis in Europe could drag down the world economy.

The 17-nation eurozone is struggling to overhaul its institutions and streamline its decision making to restore investors' confidence. The bloc's debt relative to its economic output stands at about 80 percent, while it is about 100 percent in the U.S.

I think Schäuble was right, even though I don't think the US deficits are all Obama's fault.

Obama doesn't really have a leg to stand on here. We SHOULD be dealing with everything at home instead of worrying and meddling in Europe.

America is seen as weak all around the world. Obama has done a fine job of bringing our once great nation into the mix of nations. We are now no different then the Germans of the Chianeese or the Russians in many peoples minds...

Those Germans must be racists to speak so harshly to Barack! At least everyone in the US that disagrees with his polices, or lack thereof, is labeled a racist ergo the Germans must also be racists - there can be no other reason! Just ask any Commucrat.

THIS has happened in ALL the Economic Summits that Obama has attended since he took office.. He goes over there like he has NO idea of what's been happening in Europe for the last few Decades..

The FACT is that these countries TRIED Obama's Solutions BEFORE there was an Obama to HAVE solutions and they FAILED.. They failed MISERABLY..

The Left has been LYING about the State of affairs in Europe.. It has NOT been turned into a Socialist's Utopia as THEY would have Americans believe.. Socialism has caused MORE grief there then good as has ALWAYS been the case any and everywhere it's been tried..

Obama is singing a song to a choir that knows the tune FAR BETTER then HE does and the SONG that he's singing is one that has brought them NOTHING but grief and THEY just aren't willing to listen to it anymore..

Yes, keep that campaign promise! Obama is SOOtso it someone to give agvice. "I was so scared to see what I inherited from Bush that my genius plan was to create another entitlement that we can't afford instead of securing the economy first, and keep pointing at Bush instead of doing market research to see that even all my supporters had no intention to buy Volts, Solyndra solar panels, or Ener1 turbines- and that they didn't know they were the "we" in "yes we can" and that I needed them to go out and get any job, to help with the jobs numbers, instead of running out the full 99 wks in unemployment benefits--- oh, and did I mention I didn't expect them to then claim they had disabilities when their unemployment benefits ran out, putting even more financial strain on the system...".

Every so often someone with some common sense says something intelligent. This was one of those instances. I'd also advise the president to not open our borders or grant amnesty until the unemployment problem with this country's CITIZENS is taken care of.

When it comes to financial management of the economy Germany is a 95 on a 100 scale and the U.S. under Obama is a 5. Obama giving financial advice is like Alec Baldwin giving parenting advice.

There was an expression some time ago that when the U.S. economy sneezed, the rest of the world caught a cold. That is no longer true. The U.S. has become a follower, not a leader on the world economic stage.
