George Zimmerman's wife arrested for perjury: Fair or Foul?

Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of the Florida man charged with fatally
shooting Trayvon Martin, was arrested and charged Tuesday afternoon with
one count of perjury, according to law enforcement officials.

The charges stem from what prosecutors have described as a series of
lies and distortions made by the couple during an earlier bond hearing
in April, when George Zimmerman and his family claimed they were broke.
By late Tuesday afternoon, Shellie Zimmerman posted bond, set at $1,000.

Shortly after the initial bond hearing, it was revealed that George
Zimmerman had raised upwards of $200,000 via a website set up to collect
funds for his defense. At a June 1 hearing, his bond was revoked after
prosecutors presented recorded conversations in which Zimmerman and his
wife seem to collude to keep the funds hidden. Zimmerman instructed his
wife to "pay off all the bills," which included those for American
Express and Sam’s Club credit cards.

This is starting to really look like the witch hunt it most probably is. I say George should go see a jury of his peers....but now his wife? This is getting far too gestapo for me to continue to support.

So what are you going to do about it? Isn't it indicative, of the moral decline of the entire country?

Sure it is, but this is not a topic that political movements start from. We'll wait for the jury's verdict.

So what will you think, if the jury's verdict is wrong or unjust? But then, that's a good answer, wait for the verdict, and there might not be enough evidence to convict Zimmerman, we may never really know whether he was guilty or not?, and then he will have to move somewhere far away from all the hateful and vengeful and prejudiced people, to get on with what's left of his life. That is, if he doesn't commit suicide or get killed first?

What a crappy country this is becoming, where nobody is ever safe anymore?

Well, end of this country anyway. No wonder the smart people are leaving.

The founder of Facebook even renounced his citizenship. I wonder why?

It sounds like to me, the government is setting the Zimmermans up, hoping that they can make this embarrassing issue go away, and who cares about justice?

Of course, if they are not able to stack the jury for conviction, he will probably get off anyway? Good for him, that our founders were wise enough to secure the right to a jury trial. Easier for connected establishment judges to sign onto a wicked agenda, than to convince all 12 jurors of unproven guilt.

I would not at all be surprised, if the Zimmermans leave the country after this. Considering the crappy way they have been treated, even before they are found, to be something other than innocent, or not convictable due to lack of evidence.

What kind of country attacks, possibly-innocent defendants, in such a way? Devising ways to entrap them, even if innocent. Are our prisons, not overflowing enough already? We ought to be ASHAMED to have a fourth of the world's incarcerated people, with only 4% of the world population.

Sounds like a war on wimmin.

Who doesn't cry "poor" once in a while. She was trying to get the bond as low as she could. Has anybody watched "Law and Order?" That is what people do.

Who knows if she even knew what George had coming in as far as donations were concerned. I always try and hide or minimize major financial swings from my wife. If the swings are positive, I surprise her. That way if it doesn't turn out nobody (except me) feels bad. If the swings are negative, I break it to her gently over a period of time.

No, they did send his dumb ass back to jail. I think they are probably making a bigger deal out of it than it is. I dunno, I could be wrong. I don't know how they have handled it in the past. If they are being consistent, then fine... Throw the book at her.

"Law and Order?" What a stupid TV show. I couldn't stand it anymore, after they set up some pro-lifer, trying to make him appear to be a criminal. "Law and Order," your pro-abortion liberal bias is showing. CSI is better, but then, most everything on TV is incredibly fake.

Somebody told me what they thought about how fake even CSI is. No lady detective shows up at a crime scene in high heels, or so the person said.

This is so typical of the American injustice system. Beat up on the innocent and accused, find some technicality to beat up on them with, while letting the guilty, including high level politicians, go free.

I don't understand why this is even a question. The woman lied under oath at the bail hearing. Lying under oath is perjury, which is a crime. She will have the opportunity to defend herself at a trial. Why would anyone have a problem with this?

Again many are putting the cart before the horse. She has been arrested and charged with perjury. Now it is up to the prosecutor to prove she is guilty. Too many have already tried her based on what has been said by the media. She is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. If the prosecuter had enough grounds to charge her then it is fair to do so. But to try her and find her guilty in the media or on an opinion site is unaccpetable.

So how exactly does he defend himself, with the government seizing (temporarily?) all the money raised for his defense?

Sounds like he is being railroaded, by this scam of a racist country, to me. Look at all the persecution, and he hasn't even went to trial yet?

The Constitution guarantees him (and her) the assistance of legal counsel. Even if his money were taken away he would still be provided with an attorney. Plus I guarantee you his present counsel has already been paid a nice fat retainer.

If you haven't noticed yet, we are already in a police state, which is becoming more and more evident. The Constitution is becoming irrelevant. The court system is a money-making racket for lawyers. And political expediency is becoming more important than truth.

You think this is only his problem? No, it affects us all.

So what? If you are making that claim that all "conservatives" are evil, that claim is specious at best, and outright lies at the worst.

I checked, and there's no way to choose both conservative and libertarian. It's exclusive-or, one or the other. Multiple-choice, not text-edit. Should I just say libertarian? I think not, for that almost sounds liberal. I wish to state that I believe in morals also.

Here, let me get you a definition of "conservative," as you seem confused.
