He has already been convicted by the mainstream media and the NAACP. The rest is just going to be a sham.

Zimmerman and Corey both worked out a pretty good deal (his former lawyer said that Zimmerman had contacted Corey)! She got the media and the lamebrained public off her ass (temporarily) and he got protective custody so he doesn't have to hide out from all the bounty hunters chasing his ass. And then she deliberately overreached with the charge so he wouldn't be convicted in a fair trial, so he agreed to turn himself in because his safety is now a sure thing!

She refused to speak with him when he tried to contact her. Do you really think she is that stupid? She stated herself, she thought he was still being represented by his attorneys and she told him he needed to contact them, not her.

The belligerent manner in which you replied to me ("do you really think she is that stupid?") begs a reply from me. You should have been able to figure out from the scenario that I presented in my post that I think she is very sharp to come up with a deal that struck a compromise between the scenarios being proposed by the idiots on both sides of this brouhaha. And then you made a statement that I had not heard before concerning what she said. What is your source for that "She stated herself" bit of information you included in your reply? Did you see her say that, or did it come from the irresponsibly biased media machine? I will admit that I have not been glued to the TV watching this travesty like a lot of other folks out there, and I only take a quick look at the latest reports once a day on the local news in my area (Detroit Channel 7, WXYZ) and I didn't see them report that about what Corey said to Zimmerman.

Why is it you assume that they all worked out a deal? Where was this info?

What I saw was her own press conference when she was asked directly if she had met w/ Zimmerman. She stated no, she had refused to meet with him, etc.

News conference lasted about 45 min with her making statements and answering many questions.

I had sarcastically created a potential scenario to explain why Zimmerman surrendered after his (then)-lawyer said he had spoken to Corey.

After you stated that Corey had only told Zimmerman to contact his own attorneys, I started looking for videos of anything Corey had stated publicly and I watched a few of them on my computer yesterday. I did not see the one which you reference in your post (or if I did, I didn't see her saying what you stated). I will keep looking to see any videos that I may have missed during my search yesterday.

I still think she was very smart to make an official charge that he cannot be convicted of in a fair trial so after he is found "not guilty" she can declare to everybody "I did my best!" and move on.

The problem she now faces is the impossibility of conducting a fair trial because the media storm has contaminated any possible jury pool in Florida.

I think you need to try, just try and give a little more credit to the attorneys here. Hard to do, I know, as I am pretty cynical when it comes to attorneys and ethics and of course a very tainted potential jury pool. But, that said, i think this woman's reputation and her entire staffs reputations, are impeccable. Also, the defense attorney O'Mara has a marvelous reputation. So, I am hoping that he will get a fair trial, if it goes that far, and that justice will be served according to what actually happened, and the laws. This is my hope, as the eternal optimist.

I do not think they will have the circus they had w./ the casey anthony trial where her attorney pulled every crooked thing he could, was called out on the carpet for much of it, but never in front of the jury... and they believed all his BS, even though by law, he was supposed to prove them. And of course never did. Jury was stupid to the core, and fell for all the BS, and Baez got a murderer free.

I think this will be different, everyone is finally on their toes, and no one is going to make any blatant mistakes. They know they can not. All the boys parents have asked for was to have an investigation and Zimmerman arrested if it was warranted and it was. They deserve justice here, and I think they will get it.
  • goblue1968 Dana 2012/04/15 13:38:55
    goblue1968
They have already received what they had asked for, which was an investigation and an arrest, so the justice that the parents requested has now been served.

Then, if in fact an actual "fair" trial ensues, and the scenario that Zimmerman portrayed is concurred on by the jury, I doubt that those among the Sharpton/Jackson race-baiting crowd will feel that justice was achieved.

You have to keep on jabbing, don't you? This boy is dead. he had just celebrated his 17th birthday, and is dead. He did nothing wrong, yet Zimmerman just plain would not leave the kid alone and now he is dead. The police dept pushed this entire thing under the rug, because the boy is black and his death was meaningless to them. If it were not for Sharpton and the media and the public demanding an investigation, nothing would have been done at all.

How about this? Think about it as though this was your son, just walking home one evening and some rogue kills him. How would you feel? And the PD, just ignores it, and decides to believe the killers story and never even bother to find out if he is telling the truth. How would you feel? Then just tag your dead son as a "john doe", so that he is shipped to the coroner like no one even cares, and refuse to change that to his actual name, even though they had his name right then and there. How would you feel?

I can hear the hatred seething in each post you make, you just plain keep on and keep on with your digs. Why act this way? Why not think about this family and their pain! Have you ever lost someone you loved? Lost a child???????????????? Think about it. Their pain is immeasurable and for them right now, impossible to bear. And make it worse w/ nuts in this country lying about their son non stop daily, can you even imagine how this makes them feel?

What hatred did I seethe? I am only pointing out the facts of the case as they are being revealed by those with the most knowledge about those facts. You said the boy did nothing wrong, but a witness stated that the boy was pounding Zimmerman's head against the ground.

That's why there will be a trial so all these opinions about what ensued will be replaced by actual testimony of reality.

If, key word there is if... I was followed and attacked by someone, and had nothing on me but my hands, I would do my damnedest to defend myself too. And no one knows for certain if that witness was reliable or not.

According to the girlfriend who was on the phone at the time w/ Trayvon, he was afraid, trying to get home, and his girfriend kept telling him to just run, but he did not (probably afraid of being shot in the back) but according to her, she heard Trayvon ask Zimmerman why he was following him, and also heard Zimmerman demand to know what the boy was doing there, then she heard a scuffle and the phone went dead. She tried to call back, but was unable to get him. The voices heard on the 911 tape from others who called 911... voice yelling for help, were identified as Trayvon Martins, and the voice stops immediately upon the gunshot going off.

So..... yes we need a trial. But for you to think that Zimmermans account of what happened as being reliable information is not exactly panning out. Nor if that of this witness you mentioned. But, again, they know a hell of a lot more than any of us do, and I hope there is a trial, because I want to know what the evidence is. Yes, I am curious.

Once again, as I have said before in my previous posts, we need a trial to sort out all this "hearsay" evidence. You mentioned that the story of the witness I referenced is not "reliable information". But somehow the testimony of the "witness" on the end of a phone IS reliable? Especially if that witness' testimony is biased against the story that Zimmerman tells? Of course the voice stopped after the gunshot--what need was there for any conversation after there is only one guy left?

They already ran tests, several times on the voice yelling for help and it was determined each time to NOT be Zimmermans.

OK, if you say so. You are obviously more familiar with all the media reports about this saga than I am, as I am not following it very closely.

I did see on Yahoo! News today that some more details about the case were reported as a result of Zimmerman's bail hearing where his lawyer questioned the DA's office in court.

I saw only bits and pieces of the news yesterday and attorneys battling the strategies of each side and everyone or most everyone of them saying something totally different. Seemed from what I gathered, the prosecutions investigator was caught with his pants down, was unable to answer any key important questions. Some said he had no need to, this was not a trial and no one was supposed to give any testimony at all, others said this will haunt the prosecution going forward. Dunno. The who thing is a disaster and I really had hoped that they finally were all on the ball there. But, well, we'll see. I hope there are no more blunders and they just get to the bottom of this mess for the sake of justice.

I think that he has been charged with Second Degree Murder. I don't know if he is guilty, or innocent. That's for a jury to decide. I DO hope people will calm down-on BOTH sides. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing all of the vile hatred from everyone with an axe to grind.

his new name will be Georgatta Zimmerperson, and he's going to be enjoying looking at the ground at a 90 degree angle for a few months, and perhaps a few years. I believe they should have hanged a Manslaughter charge on him, and that would stick....2nd degree murder? Corey better have some solid evident against him.
