Former President George W. Bush baffled the White House, as well as political analysts, by declining President Barack Obama's offer to visit Ground Zero together in honor of Osama bin Laden's death.
According to CNN, Bush's official excuse is that he doesn't want to attract any more attention to himself. So much for that idea.
The White House responded by stating that they "completely understand," but it's clear that the refusal was unexpected.

In a statement, David Sherzer, spokesman for the ex-president, said Bush "appreciated the invite, but has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight. He continues to celebrate with all Americans this important victory in the war on terror."

Someone mentioned it would have been nice to have all the living former presidents there in these hard times. That would have been wonderful....... Rest in peace, all those who lost their lives. Bless all those who continue to fight for freedom.
Unlike SOME past Presidents (Clinton, Carter) - President Bush is NO LONGER the President and has the CLASS to let President Obama have the stage/credit (and REFRAIN from making comments about the CURRENT President).
