Joe, great thinkers of our past like Jefferson warned against most of what has come to pass in the last 70 years.
I am really trying to see your take on this, but...........
Please tell me how we are so in control of say our monetary system. Just one topic.
The monetary system is screwed and it was the politicians that did it, but they were only able to get away with it because the American people allowed them too. I point way back to us getting off of the gold standard.
It is true that the corporations and politicians run things, but there is a major difference between the two. We have a choice to no to business with the corporations. If you are opposed to something Acme Corp. does, STOP BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS/SERVECES !! It really is that simple. But people are quick to sell out their principles for the latest gadgets so they then go running to the government to make things "fair". They give the government more and more authority to "fix" things but that just leads to more problems.
We The People are ultimately responsible for ourselves. No matter what any politician promises you, you are the one who is in charge of your own life, and no, life isn't fair. Now, whenever there is something wrong in your life and you are looking to someone else to resolve it for you, you will remain a victim. Every time we ask the someone else to fix something, we are in essence giving away some of our personal responsibility (By the way, personal responsibility and Freed...

Now, whenever there is something wrong in your life and you are looking to someone else to resolve it for you, you will remain a victim. Every time we ask the someone else to fix something, we are in essence giving away some of our personal responsibility (By the way, personal responsibility and Freedom are two sides of the same coin) to someone else. If you hire a corporation to solve a problem for you (health insurance companies for example), you give them some decision power over your life, it is the same thing with governments except for one MAJOR difference, you can fire the corporation and regain your personal responsibility, government NEVER gives up power.
As long as people continue to give power to the government, to fight the power that they give to corporations, they will remain powerless.
Today my buddy is picking me up at 11:00am and we are going to Manpower.
I can take a chunk of metal, plastic or wood, put it in a CNC machine and make it to print. We will be looking at $8.00/hr. jobs when we were making $22.00.
His wife is a cancer survivor and now they are on state benefits. None of this is OK with either of us but it is the world we live in. I just want to make enough to get along.
Our government has paved this way and I can not see how I could have changed it in any way. I am not trying to play victim, but the role has been cast by trade agreements I wouldn't have made. There was no way I had a say. Big money made deals to make bigger money. As I said, I would not have sold the American worker out like our government did.
When Hurricaine Katrina hit, we all learned a valuable lesson, that we could not depend on government to save us in a crisis. But different people took that same lesson and walked away with different solutions. One solution was to prepare ourselves for disaster and not depend on the promises of others. The other group wants to give even more responsibility to the government to take care of our every need.
It's just hard, ya' know. I am angry and I wish I could do something to get us out of this mess. More government is certainly not the answer. Margaret Thatcher once said, "The problem with socialist spending is, sooner or later you run out of other peoples money." Which is ironic I find that funny because right now I live on socialist spending. So hopefully I can get a f**kin' job today!
Thanks.
