So many Lies, so little time

This week Obama said, when asked what should be done to reduce the high price of gas, "People should use less gas."

Kind of reminds me of Marie Antoinette who said when asked what to do about people not having enough bread, "Let them eat cake."

Surely if Obama claims that he has increased natural gas production, then gas prices should be lower? Is that right- someone correct me if not. But remember, Obama cannot control either the free market, and so the gas prices. America is dependent on foreign oil and gas.

Exactly! I don't understand why people blame the president for everything, especially on things he doesn't control.

ANY president has control of gas prices. I am not saying 100%, but they do have enough control to change it so we, the normal citizens, feel it. I remember 5+ years a go the headline on a newspaper saying gas companies were at all time profits of 75% and higher. Our presidents are on those peoples payroll. He has a big say in the decisions. The presidents are on their boards (partners). They ALL want profit and a president will do what he can to be sure those profits are huge. Oh, you think that because we have a democrat now that profit isn't a concern of his? His own profit??? Yeah right.

Tell Obama to use less gas, to stay off Air Force One and only use the Limo when necessary, otherwise use the Volkswagon.

Of course, I've never said otherwise. However, he really ought not be telling us to use less gas until he uses a lot less gas. He does not know how to lead, let alone lead by example.

It's a reasonable suggestion in my opinion. If people move to more fuel efficient vehicles cars, more energy efficient dwellings, ect. ect. then naturally they would spend less on gasoline and have more for other usages. He should have said though "We need to work together to decrease the overall gasoline consumption of the nation through research and development, as well as developed government policy. Our goal on this matter is to help the American consumer, and to continue our steps forward on combating climate change in a steady, effective, balanced manner" But with more "Uhhs" I suppose :DDD

Supply and demand. Gas prices rise and fall constantly! NOT just because of a president. From the parts of his speech that weren't cut off, it sounds to me like he is trying to encourage more energy efficiency.

i got some gas for him. he wants the world to live as one, all in equal misery. he said it on the campaign trail in 2007. in essence, he said we cannot use as much gas or keep our homes as warm, or eat as much food, because it doesn't look right to the rest of the world. and yet, this bozo got elected. people don't listen to what he says.

We've massively increased oil production. The world outside the US has massively increase oil demand. When a billion Chinese want gas the price is going to go up. Don't forget the Indian's they want to drive around, too.

The private car is a wonderful thing, but we are going to have to come up with other methods of transportation and or fuel or pay a lot more for gas. The President can do a lot but in this case I have to say he can't control the free market.

Many people are driving a lot farther now, just to find work. A lot of people have been forced to work two or more jobs to make ends meet.

And you still see that as a good sign for our economy? Are you kidding me? All that means is the unemployed can't get a job, or afford anything now, much less gas! Yet those that still have a job can only buy enough gas to get back and forth to work!

The high gas prices are killing the people who are still working. They are also killing the economy because everybody has less disposable income.

I don't think that gasoline went up as much as the value of our money went down.

Marie Antoinette was obviously out of touch, but apparently she had a enough good will toward her people that she was pleased to wish they would enjoy their cake. Obama is also out of touch and his has so little good will that simply wants us to do without. He is happy to see us unhappy.

America needs a strong Domestic drilling program to help offset what's being imported. OPEC is controlling the price per barrel. America can't supply our demand so America puts itself at the mercy of foreign suppliers. High fuel prices are going to hurt Middle Class Americans as time goes along. It is a real issue that America needs to get a handle on. Petroleum based products are used by all Americans on a daily basis high oil prices effect those products that we use as well.

Well maybe that Obama should put a price cap on gas or invest in electric cars industry instead of telling people how to live their lives...But what I proposed wouldn't be very....American....
