I don't blame Obama for the high gas prices but if a Republican was president you can bet almost every news outlet and entertainment source would be blaming the POTUS.

LOL Try again...as of March 2012, oil companies receive $1.22 per gallon to pad their bottom line or 34% per gallon. Where in the world did you come up with 8 cents per gallon? LMAO I'm not the one believing the BS pal...."government gives no subsidies"? You must live in a cave or something. Thank you very much, I really enjoyed the laugh!!

Well it seems when I go to factcheck,I am not far off. 7 cents profit on gasoline, and government gets about 18 cents per gallon. While I was not completely accurate, my premise is inescapable. Sorry about you're luck!..

The oil companies sure post huge profits each quarter. I don't care how much they make per gallon, the profits are enormous. They shouldn't be subsidized by the government in any way.

the best way to cut their profits is to not use their products.

no more gas, Saran Wrap, Viagra, cell phones, computers, or anything made of plastic.

cut all that out, and you can kill their profits

If people would organize and just not buy from 1 oil company say chevron, I'm sure after a week or two, chevron would drop their prices and it could start a true price war. Gasoline might well go back to a buck a gallon again.

Poor, poor oil companies....below is the breakdown of where the profits go. My company would love to be as bad off as these poor suffering oil companies ROFLMAO!! BTW, this is fact not something Fox has told its mindless viewers.

For every three dollars you spent on gasoline, oil companies are getting more than a dollar of profit.[1]
That means on average, 34% of what you paid or $1.22/gallon, goes to pad the bottom line of oil companies.
The vast majority of this amount ($1.12/gallon) went to those who produce the crude oil, the main ingredient to make gasoline. That’s the ExxonMobils and Shells of the world.
About $0.05/gallon is profit for refineries turning that crude oil into gasoline. That’s the ExxonMobil and Shell’s of the world as well.
And that gas station of yours? Well the retailers (including distributors and marketers) on average made about $0.04/gallon in profit. Some of these are the oil companies of the world, but many of these are independently-owned and operated stations who make more money selling candy and hot dogs than gasoline.
Those oil tankers and pipelines? They make about $0.01/gallon in profit. Many of these are owned by the oil companies as well.

I paid $4.09 for regular this morning...if GWB were still president, the Obots would be blaming him and his "oil buddies" while foaming at the mouth and monkeys flying out of their butts over it....
......notice the silence now. Its the same as earlier this year when gas prices were $4.00+....all we hear are the crickets.
    Amazing, isnt it?

In the 70's gas prices were well below $1 per gallon and have continued to rise regardless of which party occupied the White House. The President is not responsible for the rise in gas prices.

Sure Bush was blamed when gas hit a high of $4 .11 on his watch. Obama will take the heat. The Midwest has seen a rash of freak problems during the past few weeks that have tightened supplies and pushed prices. An Enbridge Energy Partners pipeline that transports crude from Superior, Wis., to Chicago-area refineries ruptured July 27, spraying about 50,400 gallons of crude into a southern Wisconsin field. Equipment problems have closed parts of refineries in Whiting, Ind., Lemont, Ill., and Wood River, Ill..

The truth is, just the possibility of a shortage spooks the market.

Obama is dragging his feet on approving licenses to drill on public property.

“Domestic oil production may be at an all-time high nationwide, but the increase is primarily occurring on state and private lands rather than on federal land and waters, where production appears to have dropped significantly in 2011, according to the most recent government data.

Production of natural gas on public lands and waters in fiscal 2011 dropped 11 percent from the previous year, according to Interior Department data. Oil production dipped nearly 14 percent.

The reduction in oil production was most significant in the Gulf of Mexico, where it declined nearly 17 percent to 514 million barrels from 618 million barrels in 2010.”

I never said it was private property. Apparently, you’re making that assumption. But as my reference states above oil production is down on public property by 14 percent.

There is only one cause and that is Obama dragging his feet on approving licenses to drill on Federal property.
  • flrdsgns Kiosk Kid 2012/08/11 13:51:01

Yeah, with oil companies playing fast and loose with safety regulations, and with companies like BP using substandard materials in building, why would anyone grant these thieves a license to drill anywhere?

You have one accident in thousands of wells over 30 years. You used the fallacy of hasty generalization. Of course, a fallacy is a breakdown in logic.

Do you realize these oil companies are drilling all over the world and they have had one major accident. BP drills in the North Sea, it is not a very hospitable place.

The only hold up is Obama dragging his feet.

Wasn't there just some spill of 50,000 gallons in Wisconsin recently? And the fact that BP downplayed and lied about how bad the spill was in the gulf.
The fact that BP's idea or reparations is to put out some BS commercial saying fishing is great in the gulf is their idea of fixing the problem.
Sorry, but the amoral profit at all costs ideology of these greedy oil companies, is an attitude that requires 10 times the regulations that are now in place.

As I said before there are thousands of wells located all over the world producing oil and only one major spill accident. You want ten times the regulations. That is Liberal logic.

The fact is the world wants oil and consumes 88 million barrels a day.

Only Obama is holding up US production. The US has 800 billion barrels of oil shale. Obama is holding production up. We have tar sand oil like we import from Canada. Obama is holding production up.

Who does it really hurt? The poor like the single mother trying to get to work; I don’t care what the price of oil is at the pump. I will use the same no matter what it is.

Not his fault for causing the fires at the refinery. To blame the president is akin to pointing the finger at your friend for starting the fire when you are holding the lit match. The stupidity of hearing this amazes me that people are quick to point the finger.

Why don't start asking the questions as to how or what happened at the refinery? Was is it an accident or an intentional one? I wouldn't put it past them to pull this to make prices go up.

Also, the unrest in the mid east is still keeping them up not as much as the fire but still a reason for the speculators to stay high.

It is what the administration wants as per statements from the EPA leadership so I am guessing it is fine with the president. The people who are hurt are the poor. But as long as they can be used as an identity group he appeals to for votes but ultimately without voice, I don't think it hurts him at all. I can hear it now, "Sure I blocked production of the pipeline and that oil will go to China but it helps Government Motors sell more junk cars, and if Republicans stop obstructing everything and pass my law to give everyone an electric car (waves to UAW) the poor can drive them too. Everyone wins when I win, play the Presidential Lotto today. Oh and if you have a birthday, tell folks to send cash to me instead of presents for you...works for Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter too. Don't forget now, cause your neighbors are watching you...for me."
