I am agnostic and I celebrate Christmas with my extended family. Some of my family members teach their children about Jesus. I do not, except anecdotally. I use Christmas as a celebration of family and a change to give gifts to people I love. We have a tree and house lights and my four year old still believes in Santa. I am anti religion in general and I do not teach my children any specific religion, but there is no reason for a war on Christmas, except as a form of fear mongering. Fox is the worst offender, but let us not pretend the others are not doing the same thing. IMO, our corporate media is purposely filling the airwaves with fear stories to keep you afraid and to control your anger and point it in the wrong direction. As long as we are frightened and attacking the wrong people we are at the same time allowing the actual criminals to go on committing the rape and pillage of this country.
wrong people allowing actual criminals committing rape pillage country man behind the curtain

Screw FOX news and all the rest of the alleged media force-fed to this nation. The only thing FOX does differently than the other propaganda is brand its manipulation for the well-intended, though ignorant audience, which is disgruntled with the way things are and believe the only possible reason anything could be wrong in this country has to be the fault of the Democrats. The other outlets do the same thing in an opposite manner for the equallly ignorant Democrat audience. Anyone who still believes there is a SINGLE television news outlet to be trusted is either a coward, insane, or on crack.

I will be more specific, however, in explaining FOX's particular brand of antics regarding this topic. It is a faux subject for the lesser politically educated put forth to distract from the REAL issue at hand which is BOTH PARTIES ARE F*CKING US!!!!!!!!

You friggin' wide-eyed Democrats surely, by now, have realized Obama is just as much a malingerer as the last Fraud-In-Chief and it didn't take any time at all to see the Republicans are on the same bandwagon as every administration, for decades, which is the continued piecemealing and selling out of this country as well as the continued financial rape of this public.

Nothing, NOTHING, will change so long as people continue ...

Nothing, NOTHING, will change so long as people continue to believe the bought and paid-for bullcrap that is pumped to this public via the propaganda machines that masquerade as news in our country. And, we will only have ourselves to blame if we choose to HOPE that it will get better and continue to leave it to those shysters who will never be disappointed to keep taking and taking tremendously from this public, throwing a crumb or two our way to placate the ignorant.

Christians themselve are the ones who are the enemy of the season. A commercialized event that has no realistic ties to christianity, they would like to lay claim to the date as some christian holy day. An event that is full of myth and lies, it itself demeans the message of the one called Christ. At no time or point in biblical history was the date of Jesus birth ever hinted at nor did any of Jesus followers ever once show any indication or any hint towards viewing the date of His birth as a day for celebration or to be set aside as anything close to a special day.

The hypocracy and the lies are so rampant within modern christianity and they dare to wonder why they are not taken seriously by more? It indeed was the death of this Jesus that was important to the follower of Jesus. The bible claims that his death was the very means of the christian's salvation. Yet that very event is not set aside. The one time that Jesus told his followers to hold an celebration for anything in his life was when he held the last supper with his followers and told them to "keep doing this in rememberance of me".

This mutant christianity is a major pot of lies and deceipt. If there is an anti-christ it is nothing more than christendom herself....

Talking about taking things out of context! LOL I followed the link you provided. Promoting a baby Jesus is much different than celebrating Christmas. Most all christians willingly admit that Christmas in reality is not a christian holiday, having come to terms with the roots of the Dec 25 celebration and it's commercialism. Forgetting that the one time Jesus really lost his temper in the bible was when money was involved in worship- no date is so focused on money and economy than the chistmas holiday.

Christians do not need the ACLU to attack the holiday- they themselves have effectively destroyed it for all...

A ear of corn represents the harvest, and abundance it also reprents a persons hard work. you would know this if you learned about other cultures and not just believe that your Anglo culture was the only one around and for the record its spelled Kwanza.

But corn doesn't grow on the continent of Africa -- never did. Different hybrids have been tried as recently as 2002, with 80% crop failure.

So what? Qwanzaa was founded in America, not Africa. Corn grows here just fine.

By the way, has the American Center for Law and Justice you linked to also been fighting for the right to hold school-wide celebrations of Qwanzaa, or Hanukkah, or Eid al-Adha?

Does anybody "harvest" anything in December -- corn on the CONTINENT of Africa notwithstanding? Swahili is spoken by an estimated 7% of the population, mostly in the eastern coast countries on the CONTINENT. (all the slaves were from the west coast). You can't force a heritage to exist. If you want to be an American, BE an American. Qwanzaa claims to have its roots in Africa somehow, but we all know better.
coast force heritage exist american american qwanzaa claims roots africa

coast force heritage exist american american qwanzaa claims roots africa
Karenga cobbled together a mishmash of different traditions and languages and blended them with Marxist ideas to reflect a unified African culture that doesn’t exist anywhere

The words are Swahili and the cultural meaning is African and because it is impossible to know from what part of Africa people were stolen from it is in one case appropriate to use the words and the cultural meaning fo the words for this purpose. Oh and just because you do not see a need to celebrate this Holiday does not make it any more or less important to the peopel who do. Besides Christmass is a mishmash of old European Pagan holidays so are you not going to celebrate them?

LOL. Are you even aware where the Christmas (Or Christ-mas) tree comes from? Do you even understand why Dec 25th was chosen by Christians?

The only difference between Kwanzaa and Christmas is that those that follow Kwanzaa fully grasp the reason why they celebrate how they do.

Mish-match. HA. Have fun imagining that Christmas isn't a mish-match.
  • Grandbr... gary ® 2010/12/21 19:09:03

You seem to be getting lost in a bunch of irrelevant details - like when corn is in season - as justification for disparaging a holiday celebration other than Christmas. And all the while, you're ignoring the glaring hypocrisy of the fact that Christmas is similarly cobbled together out of mistranslations, arbitrary dates, and mythical stories.

And yet people's main complaint with Christmas tends to be that they'd appreciate if the government didn't show blatant favoritism towards one specific religion through inordinate recognition of one of it's holidays. A pretty reasonable complaint - especially in comparison with your complaint that other holidays aren't even legitimate.

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), whose website you linked to, was founded specifically to counter the ACLU, by Christian extremists determined to trample on the express intent of the Founding Fathers and remake this nation into a Christian theocracy. Expecting anything even remotely unbiased about the ACLU on that website would be like expecting unbiased information on Judaism at the Stormfront (neo-Nazi organization) website.

not news. and O'Reilly and co. are in good[?] company.
back in 1988, George H. W. Bush accused Michael Dukakis of being a "card carrying member of the ACLU" just as if that is a bad thing.
oh yeah. heaven forbid that a lawmaker should be in favor of upholding our rights!

I'm a baby boomer ( but believe in Traditional Values ),...my point is I've see it all, I've been there and all is Vanity, there's nothing new under the sun! God's seen and heard it all before, who we vote for, how much we love others, and accepting Gods own Son we will be held accountable and ultimately judged for just to mention a very few. Humility and being contrite are probably the best way to walk before a Holy God? These latter days were written by Him long ago, so I'd think it be best to remember that September day in late 2001' and join together to fight our common enemy as The Greatest Generation fought theirs, unselfishly, with courage and resolve! Facts and truth on Fox is an oxymoron. They don't know what facts, truth, fair and balanced mean so I don't know why they use those words to describe themselves. Whatever...., thankfully we don't have to listen to them since we have what they call a remote control.

Don't need to do anymore homework. The assumption that the ACLU is attacking or threatening Tennessee's schools is ridiculous and unfounded. Someone needs to buy Fox News and then clean house. Fair and balanced has been proven false a lot. I just can't think of a reason as to why anyone watches it. They must confuse the Fox Networks ratings with the Fox News Channels ratings. There really can't be that many people watching this trash.
