Fox News Host's Shocking Comment About African-American Rep.

Fox News host Eric Bolling shocked his co-hosts on "Fox and Friends" when he told Rep. Maxine Waters to "step away from the crack pipe" on Thursday. Bolling quickly said that he was "kidding."

Waters stirred up anger on the right when video surfaced on Wednesday showing her calling House Republican leaders John Boehner and Eric Cantor "demons."

On Thursday, Bolling and co-host Steve Doocy took turns bashing Waters for the remarks. But Bolling took things to another level.

"Congresswoman, you saw what happened to Whitney Houston," he said. "Step away from the crack pipe, step away from the Xanax, step away from the Lorazepam because it’s going to get you in trouble.”

The other hosts immediately gasped, and Doocy muttered, "she's not using drugs."

“How else do you explain those comments?” Bolling said. When the show returned from a break, Bolling quickly backtracked. "I just want to say I was kidding about the crack pipe," he said. "Just kidding.”

"Of course," Doocy said.

Bolling has gotten himself in hot water for racially charged comments before. He had to apologize last July after saying that President Obama was bringing "hoodlums" into the "hizzouse" — the White House, that is.

This isn't a racist remark. Waters is the racist.

Why is it that people like Maxine Waters can say crap like that about other people, but suddently there's the accusation that the "race card" is being played when someone mouths off about her? I never heard one racial slur. His comments on national TV make not have been "politically correct", but Maxine Waters sure is NOT innocent and has made worse statements than Bolling ever dreamed of. People like Waters, Sharpton and Jackson have beaten down the bleeding heart media with thier race-card BS. It's time to stand up and call people like Maxine Waters what she really is. She's an out of control, unqualified, mouthy bitch who doesn't have a clue when it comes to government. Get rid of more people like her and maybe our country will come back together again.

  • Ang74 2012/02/16 23:33:32
Wait, how is this racist? It seems he was commenting on her behavior, not the color of her skin.
  • Beautif... Ang74 2012/02/16 23:40:55
It's because he referenced Whitney Huston.
  • Ang74 Beautif... 2012/02/16 23:51:49
So! If she was a different race, no one would care. He only said it because it is all over the news right now that she died from abusing medication and referenced her erratic behavior. Where did he say anything about her color? If this happened at the time Amy Winehouse died, he would have probably referenced her. People are making it into a race issue (as usual), when it wasn't.

a stupid joke that didn't land. If he says something ill-mannered like this again... Then it's a reason to make a big deal out of it. For now, I see mo reason to boil 'em in hot oil.

it's only shocking that others heard it. he's told his little weasly circle this before. these types of white men are everywhere; have been, and always will be.
  • Nightmusic 2012/02/16 23:26:31
She's definitely not right in the head. She made some comment about not wanting to see Republicans in the halls of Congress again in her lifetime. You can't insult this woman. She does it herself when she opens her mouth.
