Its just the media trying to stir things up for interesting news. First there was this fictional war on women and now this.

... I give up. Seriously he is suddenly for marriage so now its a war on marraige?

At times marriage can resemble war, but Obama finally telling the truth about (something, anything) how he feels doesn't have anything to do with that. The timing is a bit suspect.

But then again, the news media declares a 'war on anything' that is controversial, so why not this too? More stupid nonsense. Who gives a damn about the declared war of the day and just do what's right. Let them marry for Pete's sake, and lets move on to more important matters already.

The war is against equal rights. Women being able to have their medical problems covered just like those of us guys.. If you need Viagra, God was telling you somthing, give it up, to dam bad dude... Gays should suffer and enjoy marriage just like anyone esle..

So I know there are a lot of caveats to this. Yes, he should have been for gay marriage from the start. Yes, this is just a statement and doesn't really mean anything policy-wise. Yes, marriage is a patriarchal bourgeois institution historically used to enslave women and us radical feminists shouldn't we wasting our energy and money trying to fight for the right to access to such a thing (or whatever).



But you know what, this is kind of a Big F*cking Deal. The sitting president of the United States says out loud that the love between two people of the same sex is no different than the love between people of the opposite sex and that the law should reflect that. This is a statement that will be heard around the world. Homosexuality (not just marriage) is illegal in 76 countries around the world. Today the most powerful man in the world says out loud that is not ok. That's a big deal, and it's something we should celebrate today, and then get back to the hard work tomorrow.

I don't think most married women feel like slaves these days. Some husbands may feel that way, though. ( I'm not one of them. )

It should be between a man and a woman.

There is a war on personal liberty, on personal civil rights, on our US Constitutions guarantee of equal treatement.

On the "civil right of civil marriage" NO! Marriage is a "basic civil right" NO ONE except the religious right and the Republicans have declared war on Marriage.
