That's great. And look at the democrat hypocrisy at the end:

''Sen. Audrey Gibson, D-Jacksonville, also took issue with the bill and voted against it.

She said taxpayers could have all kinds of problems with the items people put in their carts, whether that be candy or a T-bone steak. But it's not up to the public to decide, she said.

"I hope we will stop trying to tell poor people every day what they should do in their lives and help them to make better choices … not by being their parent, but by being their helper," she said.''

When in fact they are all about controlling the poor and telling ppl how to live. And isn't she going against the very nutritional crap that Moochelle is propagandizing. No wonder dems don't get anything done, they not only work against republicans they work against themselves. Morons!

As soon as the government starts producing a product or providing a service that makes a profit, it will be the government's money. Until then, it's still belongs to the people who earned it regardless of whose hands it may be in.

this is not hard to grasp...
once you allow your money to be taken ...
    it is not yours-

why should anyone be under your control...
when you can't even control your own money???

    what you display...
    is a petty spiteful vengeance-
    not attractive-

    emotion based reactions-

Start a charity and raise money for them. I have and continue to do so, but I would never demand it of someone else.

No, YOU start a charity and give to these people. Don't rely on these organizations that get paid MILLIONS to raise money. It's a big ring. And that's a fact.

Excellent! Not only is it vastly inappropriate to make a children's luxury item eligible for food coupons, but also--and MOST IMPORTANT--those candy bars do nothing for those who eat them. If you're on food stamps, then you must eat well, not something that will stunt your growth.

But I'm still not satisfied. Food stamps should be abolished.

Sugar candy killed my wife, by promoting the cancer that sent her to an early grave.

And if you don't stop chomping on that stuff, it will kill you, too.

For your information, sugar is the one thing on which cancer cells thrive. Cut out the sugar, and your body has time to rally against cancer.

In fact, the Envita clinics use chemotherapeutic agents chemically bounded to sugar to KILL cancer cells. And with very good results.

    ahhh...
well then let's load those candybars...
you want to deprive folks of ...
    with chemotherapeutic agents then-
    lol

    for your information...
    all cells thrive on sugar-
    glucose-

which is what candy bars ...
    are reduced to...
before entering the blood and becoming available to cells-

you never had biology ...did you???
or you would understand sugars better-

i suggest you put aside your emotion-
    it gives you no license...
    to control anyones diet -
    food stamps aside-

Punishing people by not allowing even the littlest of enjoyments such as a coke and a Hershey bar is really going too far with putting your face in somebody elses. Term limits on length of time, education, job training, etc would be a far better plan to stopping this entitlement program.

I blame the government who is putting their hands in your wallet to support their bureaucratic despotism and calling it charity. There will always be poor but our Constitution is the first of its kind where it allows you to change your circumstances. Our elected no longer live by these founding principles and are creating poor as a diversion to keep their lavish lifestyles.

It is bureaucratic despotism and as long as people keep justifying it, it will only get worse.

I also blame the government as they continue to allow far too many who abuse the system to continue on it. There will always be poor and there will always be those willing, on their own, to help them.

Again I blame the government, don't forget they make the rules and if the agencies/states etc don't use the money they are given then they are given less the next year. They have created a real quagmire of double standards have they not not only those who they see abusing the system but those who they hire to monitor them.

Good....I can think of a few other things that shouldn't be allowed. I'm not for telling people what to eat but that doesn't mean that I want to pay for them. Maybe if they want candy and soda, they can go out and get a job to pay for them. Yes, there are jobs if you are willing to work at whatever you can find instead of sitting home waiting for the next check.

Texas has no alcohol, no tobacco products. You can buy soda, candy, bread, eggs, rice, canned goods, milk, vegetables, fruit and almost all staples. No cosmetic products or headache medicines. No aluminum foil or zip loc bags, no laundry detergent. No soap or no shampoo. I guess some trade these itemns for alcohol or cigarettes ?

That's what they use their welfare checks for....since they don't have to pay much for the necessities like rent, electricity, cell phones (that's a questionable necessity), transportation or food for their children since schools feed them. They do have disposable income for cigarettes, alcohol and from what I can tell from their trash, many pizza deliveries!

Unless they program the registers at check-out to prohibit the sale of these items, they will continue to be sold! Especially at the Mom and Pop stores because they don't care what they sell as long as they get a sale.

I did some undercover work for the WIC program where I sent buyers to hundreds of stores to buy products that were not allowed, such as cigarettes or exchange for cash and about 99% of the stores did not comply strictly.

Not if they create the food stamps program more like WIC. WIC recipients have checks to buy specific things.

Wrong......the vendors don't care what they sell the WIC recipients. I was responsible for compliance in the state of Maryland and 99% of the stores would give our undercover agents whatever they placed on the counter.

Personally I think everyone who is on food stamps should have to take a class telling them how to shop (and possibly cook) wisely. Because that state senator referenced in the top comment is right. I do object to people buying T-bone steaks (among other frivolous things I have seen people waste their food stamps on) but its not so much because it's a T-bone, as much as they can eat more often buying 3 pounds of ground hamburger (lean) or 4 or 5 pounds (or more) of chicken with the same money that bought the T-bone. That is money that is also meant to feed children. We whine and moan because school lunches are the only meal some kids get. Well I wonder why. Heads of households are squandering their food stamps on frivolous food and drink that will only last a few meals (if that).
