It's Florida... Nice place to visit but questionable to live in. They are the school board so I think they have the right to request she doesn't come. It's just typical behavior of the republican party of NO.

Denying the first lady the right to visit a school and talk to kids is like denying a theater owner the right to visit his own theater. First ladies have always shown an interest in education and have always visited schools and talked to the kids... If I were one of the parents of the kids involved, I'd be doing everything I could to replace every board member that didn't want her there...

Since when does the first lady OWN anything, especially a public school? She's nothing more than an ordinary citizen who happens to be married to the President. Why people believe she deserves any special treatment or respect is beyond me. Screw her and her unearned, and undeserved respect.

I'm just saying it's tradition EVERY first lady has done it for at least half this country's existence. She may not be anyone special, but she's brave enough to get up on national television and speak in support of her husband, a LOT of people couldn't do that. Nancy Regan Went to schools to bring the "Just say NO" campaign to young ears, and got a LOT of kids beat up or threatened because they thought they could "just say no" to local pushers that planned to make them into new customers. The kids that were going to say no were saying no already... don't get me wrong I think keeping kids off drugs is a noble cause, but trying to leave it in THEIR hands is dangerous. Nobody complained about that. She's a celebrity and deserves her fame more than Paris Hilton does, letting the kids meet her would probably have been the highlight of their year, denying her was just asinine.

Fair comment. However my position is unchanged. I don't want any first lady sticking her nose into any issues. They weren't elected to anything, and I don't want them involved in public policy simply because they are married to the criminal who occupies the Oval Office.

Also, before you use a word as an insult, you might want to know what it means. "Nazi" is a contraction of Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP), or National Socialist German Workers' Party.
