Florida beach lifeguard fired for saving a man's life outside a designated area he was assigned to watch. Should a hero be fired like that, or praised?

Though they are actually considering rehiring him they shouldn't have fired him in the first place.

If he let the man die it would have been criminal neglect (possible worse) - he's a rescuer and he was called upon by someone seeking aid. Not to mention the gigantic unfair death lawsuit that would name both the life guard and his company.

Lets just pretend all that didn't hang over his head (and in the moment of adrenaline probably really didn't come up at all)....he still chose to do the right thing. He should be praised over and over.

I hope he ditches that life guard company and joins up with a decent rescue squad and/or ambulance department who would appreciate him.

If he wouldn't have, then the victims family would have probably sued. Can't win.

Why does Florida value bureaucracy over human life? Am not surprised this happened in Florida.

This is what happens when bureaucratic red tape runs amok.
