Female Veterans Demand Rush Limbaugh's Show Be Pulled From American Forces Network

The fallout from Rush Limbaugh's latest neanderthal moment continues to fall. AOL announced in the past hour or two that they are now the ninth advertiser who has realized that sponsoring a mysogynistic racist drug addled hatemonger might not be the best marketing decision to make. More are surely to come. After being pressured into issuing a non-apology apology (which basically amounted to "I shouldn't have called her a slut even though she's a slut"), the torrent of criticism for Limbaugh's indefensible slanders against a private American citizen whose "crime" was exercising her Constitutional right to petition the government for redress of grievances has continued unabated. The American Military is largely a "captive audience" when it comes to the media. Even the most moderate of critics have long complained about the fact that our military is forced to receive the nonstop onslaught of deliberate lies and misinformation that Fox tries to pass off as "news". The fact that they are similarly forced to hear the disgusting flood of hate from Rush Limbaugh is almost as despicable a disservice to the brave men and women in uniform who defend this nation as sending them into combat without a plan, a strategy, or even the body armor they needed to stay alive, as the Bush Administration did. Is it time to stop subjecting the bravest of American citizens to the torrent of hatemongering from the most cowardly of Americans?

VoteVets, a coalition of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, released a letter today from a group of female veterans calling on the American Forces Network to drop Rush Limbaugh from its programming.
Miranda Norman (who is a VoteVets.org Senior Advisor), Kayla Williams, and Robin Eckstein, all Iraq War Veterans, and Katherine Scheirman, former chief of medical operations in the U.S. Air Forces, released the following statement:
Rush Limbaugh has a freedom of speech and can say what he wants, but in light of his horribly misogynistic comments, American Forces Radio should no longer give him a platform. Our entire military depends on troops respecting each other – women and men. There simply can be no place on military airwaves for sentiments that would undermine that respect. When many of our female troops use birth control, for Limbaugh to say they are "sluts" and "prostitutes" is beyond the pale. It isn't just disrespectful to our women serving our country, but it's language that goes against everything that makes our military work. Again, we swore to uphold our Constitution, including the freedom of speech, and would not take that away from anyone – even Limbaugh. But that does not mean AFN should broadcast him. In fact, it shouldn't.
AFN is owned and operated by the Department of Defense, funded with taxpayer dollars, and accessible to troops serving overseas. Pentagon spokesman George Little says the military's network will continue to air Rush Limbaugh's radio program and is "unaware of any plans to review that decision."

MsTlynne 2012/03/05 19:57:59Yes, our brave soldiers should not be forced to deal with Rush.

In addition, he said women who want their insurance to cover Birth Control Pills are sluts and if they want it; a video tape of them having sex has to be sent. Whatever political side you are on, these words are disgusting.
LIBERAL JOURNALIST POINTS OUT DOIUBLE STANDARD - GOOD FOR HER!
Did you know there is a war on women?
Yes, it’s true. Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher, Matt Taibbi, and Ed Schultz have been waging it for years with their misogynist outbursts. There have been boycotts by people on the left who are outraged that these guys still have jobs. Oh, wait. Sorry, that never happened.
Boycotts are reserved for people on the right like Rush Limbaugh, who finally apologized Saturday for calling a 30-year-old Georgetown Law student, Sandra Fluke, a “slut” after she testified before congress about contraception. Limbaugh’s apology was likely extracted to stop the departure of any more advertisers, who were rightly under pressure from liberal groups outraged by the comments.

I would think it is hard enough for a young person to testify but to have to face a pile of crap that Rush placed upon her was just wrong.
Fluke turn out to be a fake. Not 23 but 30 with an agenda.
Why is she a fake?
http://mrctv.org/blog/sandra-...
She has been pushing for mandated coverage of contraceptives at Georgetown for at least three years according to the Washington Post.
And I would never apologize for my rant because I stand up for what I wrote. lol
First point. We're now finding out that this woman was a fraud. She's not 23....she's 30 and an activist. I know I'm still waiting to see what we're going to learn about the real Fluke. Hope that gets reported over the AFN.
For the record, my son fought as a Marine in Iraq and was among the first through the berm in '03, and was part of the assault in to Baghdad. He enlisted during the Clinton Administration, and he said that this whole argument about Bush and body armor was pure B.S., and that actually, it was the failing of the Clinton Administration, who absolutely gutted them, curtailed training and left much of their tactical gear and hardware and Assault Vehicles in a state of disrepair because they couldn't get funding (or parts). Clinton had used it elsewhere (contraceptives maybe?).
Second point. You'd do well to paint with a broader brush and include the liberal left and their treatment of women. I've never been able to understand how the things you judge one political side for, you can make exceptions for your party of "enlightened ones.". It's like lipstick on a pig.......it's still a pig at the end of the day.
But I digress.

It was written by Kirsten Powers, a former member of the Clinton Administration [gasp!] from '93-'98. Pretty damming stuff.
If it's time for anything, it's time for making sure that our Armed Forces receive a balanced report, but they're actually pretty good that way at separating you-know-what from Shinola. A product they DO understand being fed them by the MSM.
Cheers.

I'm not the only person who doesn't want my tax dollars wasted on broadcasting that porcine jerk's oinks to our troops.
Women have a tough go in the armed forces as it is and shouldn't have to deal with that misogynist freak's hateful remarks about women (or anything else for that matter).
Good for them hopefully someone wil listen to them.. We shouldn't be supporting bigotry with our tax dollars..
our fighting forces need a clear head and clear mission... the LAST thing they need is a bunch of bs from this assclown.
"That's a business decision and it's theirs alone to make. They've decided they don't want you or your business anymore."
He doesn't even have the guts to admit that the advertisers are leaving the show because of his poor behavior, and not the audience's, and lets the audience think it's their fault!
Can you believe that jerk?

how can we expect attitudes to be corrected when this is playing in the background.
