They do test for that kind of thing. Maybe she's just a really good swimmer. But no, that can't be. She beat an American! She beat a man! She must have cheated!

Not absolutely sure, but suspicious enough to wonder why a doping test wasn't done.

The Chinese cheat in every event, just as the Russians and East Germans used to in the 1970s & 1980s.

She was only faster than him on one lap, not the entire thing. Perhaps he wasn't going all out on that one lap and she was or maybe he did something sloppy on that one lap and she swam that lap perfectly. People are only questioning this because it's a woman besting a man, it's being reported slantedly because she didn't swim faster than him overall but just on one lap, she's Asian, and she's not only Asian but also Chinese and people are suspicious of the Chinese all the time. Unless it's proven that there was wrong doing in this race that gave her an dvantage, I will believe that she's just that good.

C'mon, she only swam faster for /one lap/. Overall he was 30 seconds faster than her. Obviously he spread his strength evenly and she went all out in that one lap.

Most of the athletes that our kids compete against are government sponsered and as such they do nothing but live and breathe their sport they should be good i would hope that there is nothing to it except for that but whatever it is still nothing but bragging rights!

If she had failed the drug tests, they wouldn't have let her swim. They test them regularly and *before* they compete.

You have heard the news that eight asian women, chinese, indonesian, south korean I believe banned for intentionally losing their matches in order to get matched up with more favorable or easier opponents. This is why I for one am suspicious when it comes to this chinese woman swimming as she did. Let me say one more time. This has nothing to do with her being asian or the fact that she might be faster than some men, but a record breaking olympian male is enough for me to scratch my head. It's not the first time the chinese in particular have been suspected of cheating.

Athletes have been suspected of doping very often but a very minute amount of them are found to be using drugs to get an advantage over others.Women are much lighter then men,and have a smaller mass, and am surprised that the fastest swimmer in the world was not a woman a long time ago. This swimmer has been training since she was 6 years old and can see her eventually going on to winning the most gold medals from a female swimmer.People should be in awe of her,not suspect of her.

Wasn't she swimming in the final? As in, against the fastest swimmers from the other countries? So how could she have had easy opponents? :P

two things happening.. the CHINESE are known for doping.. and the this has been an ongoing problem ..

The entire idea of the olympics is FAIR competition.. Odd things do happen.. but this does seem beyond ODD with the record breaking times

Maybe she did, but I doubt it. These athletes get better every single year in extreme rates. I mean, it isn't like they don't do drug tests. Plus, it seems to be mainly people in the US making these accusations, and it makes you wonder if they're just upset China is beating them. Personally, I'm just happy for her. She must have worked really hard.

Drug tests are passed every day. It doesn't mean she's not cheating. I'm a fan of lance armstrong, but if it is proven he cheated, then apparently those test failed to pick up any drugs in his system.

Certainly not sure but the Chinese like the Communist's of the USSR force people into being the best and a little help along the way via DNA tampering, or medicinal would not be out of line, steroids of a new kind???? They want to be the best they don't care how they do it. Sooooo maybe she's great, maybe she had some help...
  • La Barbi Rose 2012/08/02 01:50:48

You do realise the USSR doesn't exist any more? Russia isn't communist any more >.>
