"Network", "Animal House", "Die Hard" and, according to Wikipedia, before he died, Lumet was also a Level 13 Warrior in the Chuck Norris school of martial arts.

I'm a NYer and Lumet made some of the classic NY movies. Dog Day Afternoon (Attica! Attica!) and Serpico of course. One movie I've been referring to a lot lately because of Charlie Sheen is Network.

Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon are two of my favorite films from the 70's. Crime dramas with an emphasis on plot and character development, not explosions.
