When I told this to some conservatives once and talked about a friend who was having those problems, he said "You're full of hot air. Tell your whiny friend to suck it up, things are tough all over."
This is why after a few years in the military, I turned liberal. The conservatives will put yellow magnets on their car, but when push comes to shove, they would rather we be homeless.

Bring back the draft and watch how they turn!

30 years later. In 2000, the DOD and VA said there were just over 700,000 of the 2.7 million 'boots on the ground' 'Nam vets left alive. The Census that year had 13.4 million men claiming they were 'Nam vets. Those numbers generated the 'Stolen Valor Act', making misrepresentation of veteran status a Federal offense.
I've met a whole lot of 'camo' wearing 'vets' who didn't know what 'di di mau' meant, and if you were in 'Nam, you learned it quick. Liars.
False patriots aren't confined to a 'side'.
I saw nothing in the piece that offended the people who serve. It was pointing out the hypocrisy of sending troops off to war while never serving themselves.

every troop plays an important role, regardless of their position on a battlefield
regardless, as i pointed out previously, without the people who "stay in the rear with the gear" the foot soldiers would be blind in the field and would never be able to accomplish anything
let me try it this way. in a theatrical production, the ones that go out and do the visible acting are the ones that capture the audience's main attention. but if it werent for the numerous crew members running the lightboard or changing scenery or helping out with costume changes, the show would be a flop. does that clarify it at all?
and its not gay, it takes skill, teamwork and talent
your words inferred that you were experienced in the military arms
maybe i should try it in a way a prejudiced southerner might understand. IN NASCAR, THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE HELPING OUT THE DRIVER LIKE THE PIT CREW AND THAT GUY WITH THE HEADSET. EVEN THOUGH THEYRE NOT THE PEOPLE DRIVING, WITHOUT THEM THE DRIVER WOULD NOT WIN.
did you understand that?
and just b/c i have never served in the military does not mean i do not understand the concepts and strategies behind warfare. a recent technological breakthrough is allowing the Air Force to pilot remote surveillance craft deep into enemy territory to detect enemies and relay their locations to ground troops, preventing possible ambushes. does the fact that theyre sitting behind a computer desk make them any less patriotic or brave? theyre just as useful and necessary as the infantry, but according to you, they dont deserve recognition because theyre "bringing up the rear"
i'll allow you to continue to wade in your pool of self-pity and ignorance ans stop wasting my time on someone who deliberately closes their eyes and ears to anything other than their own shallow fantasy world.
good night
theres more to life than big muscles, goals, touchdowns, etc. although ive had my fair share of those as well. im a well-rounded individual
