Fake Baby Bumps Are Popular in China: Wonderful or Weird?

Maybe you've seen a documentary on TV where a teen wears a fake baby bump to show and experience what it's like to be a pregnant teen, or even a movie where an actress simply needed to look like she's got one in the oven. Fake pregnancy belly suits are nothing new. But this is the first time we've heard of the items becoming noticeably popular.

According to The Washington Post, fake pregnant bellies, which are made out of skin-like silica gel and run for $80 to $250, are selling like hotcakes online. Well, we're actually not too sure how well hotcakes sell online, but you get the point. The product comes in a number of sizes and stages of pregnancy, and has been used in a number of ways, from fashion to fun. One seller told People's Daily, "Most of the costumers have bought the bellies for acting performances or as a joke, though others wanted to experience the life of a pregnant woman." What do you have to say about this kooky baby bump trend?

Sad. To be honest. China denies people the right to reproduce, and they're physically dissatisfied with their appearance so they alter it to look like they are reproducing. Meanwhile they walk past a dying little girl hit by a truck, ignore the little babies dropped in the dump, and try to ignore impending disaster by too many girls 'disappearing' and boys surviving. China's messed up.

Its a prelude to China having a new baby boom prior to taking over the world...

This will encourage the younger population to have babies...

And with everyone wearing one of these nobdy will know who's pregant or not!

What a clever ploy... And of course the new families will be able to move into america as China has been buying american land by the square mile for the last few years, using american money as they own the federal reserve...

    and the story unfolds.....

I welcome China to have a massive baby boom, if by "taking over" it merely means their populations naturally swelling wherever they live. What I don't want, is the corrupt rule of their communist politicians. I already support a denser world population, so as to "scoot over a bit" and make room, for everybody and all their progeny. If Chinese people had larger families, it would help promote freedom of people all over the world, to enjoy having "all the children God gives."

Half the world is Asian now. It would be okay if half the world was Chinese, just so long, as Chinese merely means where the people originally came from, and doesn't mean that China will "own" us. Somebody who looks Chinese, can be just as American as any normal American, or whatever country they may have moved to?

But I don't think all Chinese are into "taking over." Nothing wrong with them spreading their genes and having children, in whatever country they are, if they are responsible citizens of that country, and not "taking over" for China. How many Chinese are actually Americans, who happen to be of Chinese descent? Or do you agree with the rounding up and detaining of loyal Americans, who happened to be from Japan, during World War 2?

And why do you think that only China "extends its tentacles?" Human population does that in general. We spread "tentacles" of population spread, then the tentacles soon thicken, and population takes hold and grows in more places than ever.

Don't the Muslims have more of a philosophy of "taking over" and invading, changing the countries they are into? Chinese people seem to ADAPT better, and seek to prosper, better than the Americans already here? Or maybe I was talking of Asian immigrants in general?

I am for the natural globalism, of countries naturally populating themselves into each other. (migration, some intermarriage between people of different countries) What I oppose, is what's usually called globalism, the concentration of political power into the hands of the unaccountable few, the NWO criminal elitist power graps and their evil depopulation an...

I am for the natural globalism, of countries naturally populating themselves into each other. (migration, some intermarriage between people of different countries) What I oppose, is what's usually called globalism, the concentration of political power into the hands of the unaccountable few, the NWO criminal elitist power graps and their evil depopulation and other evil conspiracy to destroy our economy and murder the poor, who they helped make poor by rigging the economies against the poor.

Nationalism is said to be outdated, an evil thing. But it isn't, if it isn't excessive. It's a check against the evil globalists taking over, that nations (and local communities) need to preserve their sovereignty. But it obviously leads to sin, if people think only their country (or village) matters, and that foreigners don't matter.

BTW, isn't the head of your octopus Asian monster, over Japan? Hmm. Guess there's just not enough ready illustrations when you need one?

China is in serious need of population control, and this rubber baby bump is a good non-pharmaceutical tool to help Chinese women deal with it. I think it's clever. They need all the help they can get.

As a joke, or a Halloween costume yeah maybe. But to spend between $80-250 that's a bit much. So does it come with the fake baby too? No, I guess that would be extra. Shows someone who has too much money and their head is in the wrong place.

To say that a cultural trend (like the one posted) is weird reflects personal bias'.

Because there is no option that says "Neither" I will vote "Wonderful"; cultural trends are just that - they only reflect the culture.
