FACES OF THE FALLEN
SCOOP--RIP, MY DEAR MAX
2011/06/05 14:38:16
I don't know about you all, but I am quite disturbed by what we see on television these days.
Thousands and thousands of hours are spent talking about the raid and death of Osama bin Laden.
The same holds true for the Casey Anthony trial.
While these are legitimate news stories, I get tired of hearing the same crap over and over again. Yes, I do know there is a remote control where I can change the channel or turn the television off and I use these buttons quite often.
I am dismayed by what we don't hear on the news.
How much time is given to report on the men and women in uniform who so bravely serve our great nation and who often give the ultimate sacrifice while they are doing this?
We may hear that a certain number are killed on a certain day. We don't hear much about the brave individuals.
I have found this site that gives us a daily update on the number of fatalities during these wars.
This site also has pictures of these brave men and women shown by the date of their death.
It is my hope and prayer that you all will take just a minute and visit this site and familiarize yourself with some of these heroes. This is the very least we can do.
We may not know many of them, but many of them didn't know us, but that didn't stop them from serving bravely to protect the freedoms and liberties that we all enjoy. The fact that they didn't know us didn't stop them from giving up their lives to protect those things.
Thank you for your time and consideration in doing this.
I love our military and pray God will bless and comfort their families. I pray that our heroes will rest in peace and I pray that God will keep those still serving safe from all harm.
God bless you, my dear Sodahead friends.
Hugs from Texas,
Scoop

In the Viet Nam era we saw daily, updates of the war, NO blame on the President, or "friends and neighbors" that sent those men, but a LOT of blame on the Troops.
They went because, they received a letter telling them that their "friends and neighbors", had selected them to serve. They returned home to find that those same "friends and neighbors", were now calling them "baby killers", "murders" ect...ect... for doing what they asked them to do. Most were 18 and new graduates from high school, some were just starting college or their first full time job, but they went and served because they were asked. Yet the media lamed them.
Today the media blames Bush, and ignores the sacrifice of these troops, and their families. The media MAGNIFIES the civilian casualties, and really gives no significances to the troop casualties other than to count them. We see pictures of wounded "civilians", but like Viet Nam it's hard to tell "civilians" from combatants, unless you see exactly which one in the crowd fired the bullet that killed your buddy. We hear very little about, the enemy using "civilians" as human shields.
Today every soldier is a volunteer, and informed they may have to serve in combat, yet volunteers ...
