FACEBOOK USERS: There is a virus, I am a victim of it

I've seen that scam in my email. Fortunately, I'm dirt poor, and had already heard about it. What worries me about Facebook is that they got into my email account and got all my contacts. I wanted to be polite and tell someone that no, we never met in Texas. I logged in and got a list of my contacts. I recognized a lot of people and thought they must be on Facebook too, so I checked off their names, thinking we would connect. Then I got a bunch of angry emails saying, "I don't have time for Facebook." I had no clue I was inviting them. Then I realized the list included business contacts. That's when I figured out that they had already collected my info from my email account. So what use is a password? The act of logging in gave me a wall or whatever, and people started commenting on it. I stayed out until I decided to try to delete the account I never signed up for. I couldn't figure out how-tried twice, and both times, when I logged out my computer ran like molasses. I'm scared to go in and try again.

Business ones were the most embarrassing for me. I use a free unused email and special password for facebook now.

I never trusted Facebook. After setting up an account I didn't want, I got a message recently asking if it was OK to share my public info. There was another post about Facebook by zlgriff. She had a link to how to get out of Facebook. I just changed the passwords on both Facebook and my email acct: both are different. And I deleted everything I could from my page. If they're gonna post stuff about you, it would be nice if they at least got it right. My computer is working better, but I did some other repair work today. I feel relieved about changing my passwords. It's a start. Thanks.

I've seen those help me I'm stranded emails and the promise of money after you send them all yours.. DELETE. Don't open.

Count your blessings. Once it has you, it seems to follow you everywhere. For the third time, my cousin in Norway sent me a message on Facebook. I told her the first time that I would not respond: she can use email, but she won't. What is it that people are both extremely defensive about it, and insistent that you join? I have my hands full, and I don't trust them at all.

Are you saying that Facebook is sending out emails as if they were from you?!? If so, I need to know so I can warn people too.

My cousin in Norway won't use email. She insists on sending messages to Facebook. I told her I don't go there, but she still kept it up. I think she finally gave up. What is it with Facebook? It really acts like an addiction.

I don't use Facebook or Tweeter. I think e-mailing is better (i use gmail for that). There isn't even that much to do in Tweeter or Facebook is there? Maybe some "fun" games but I heard they give you viruses too.

I've heard the same thing. And when all I did was hide the ads on my wall that I never signed up for, my computer ran horribly when I logged out. That has happened twice, so I don't dare even go in to try to figure out how to delete my account which is what I was trying to do. Sleaze, sleaze, and more sleaze. BTW: it was my gmail account that Facebook got all my info out of, before i ever logged in: they were laying in wait.
And I have also heard that Twitter isn't so safe anymore. Besides, it's boring.

I received that email from you yesterday.I knew it was bogus because a similar one went out last year,from my daughter's email account.I'm not sure if this is an issue with Facebook,or if the problem is with Yahoo.She contacted Yahoo about it when it happened to her and they resolved it for her.

I called Yahoo, but they we useless...Sorry you got that email. I posted warnings on facebook and here, I just hoped it got out in time!!!

Not a problem,like I said I'd seen that before,and I think you remember me telling yo to not bother sending me invitations to the games on Facebook,because that's too easy of a portal to allow hackers access. I think the solution for my daughter was to establish a new email account,which you might want to consider doing,and if you want to continue using Facebook,use your new email account with a different passwordto access that site!I very rarely go to Facebook anymore!Did you warn the Facebook users to beware of the apps that want to access other info inyour files in order to work?

I recently got a request from Facebook asking if it was OK to share (sell) my public information. It isn't even accurate. But it was step one in the plan to start selling private info, including your friends, then their private info and their friends etc.
