When you hear the word "intern," it usually means low-paying position or no-paying position. It's the kind of job students get when they're too busy with classes to get a full-time job. But for software engineer interns at Facebook, it means big money. According to Glassdoor.com, they get over $6,000 per month on average.

That's more than $72,000 a year. They also get full benefits, three meals a day, an iPhone, a computer, gym access, and $1,000 a month toward housing. Quora.com calculates the actual paycheck to be $4,600 a month, plus an extra $400 for each year of college the intern has completed. However, these are interns employed to do software engineering -- not necessarily your coffee go-ers and copy boys. Still, does $6,000 a month seem a little ridiculous?

Why does it matter how much they make.. If they have an opportunity to make money good for them.. It shouldn't matter to anyone what others make.. that's the problem with society today.. Everyones more worried about how much someone else makes instead figuring out how they can make more..

So should Wal-Mart pay me to remove groceries from there store so I can keep them wealthy? Same logic right?

that is retail and totually necessary. Facebook is a phrase and will go away in time. Something will replace it like everything on the net, and the net could go forward to to becoming extrinct. To pay someone that kind of money doing what? Facebook is not necessary.

I agree with you on that FB isn't necessary. All I was saying was that if they've made it available and people are using it (an insanely high number of people), they need programmers and engineers to keep it going. If people are demanding it then they have to keep it up.

Do you really think the internet will become extinct?

that is fine but no engineer is worth that. the job market is very demanding at this time with the great amount of job loses. Yes with the way things are going and with internet sprying and corruption, especially with China, Russia, etc spying into our gov't systems and will continue to do so. I believe in future years to come that our country, gov't will see that the internet is not top secret.

You've got some good points there. I hope only parts of the internet go away. Its pretty nice to have access to so much information nowadays.

It's a little bit OTT, especially with all the added benefits, but I suppose they must be worth it...
