A woman got fired from a Swiss insurance agency after being caught on facebook while out sick. The woman claimed she could not go to work, and that she couldn't sit a computer, that she had to lay in the dark. However, an employee at the insurance company saw that her Facebook account had been active. This destroyed all trust the insurance company had in her. The accused and fired woman admitted to using Facebook on her iPhone, but not on her computer.
Have you ever been caught playing hooky? (calling in sick when you weren't?)

she got what she deserved
A few friends and I all decided to call in sick one day and go to Disneyland, the only problem being Disneyland opened at 8am, all of our jobs also started at either 8am or 9am, so we would have to call in from the park.
There used to be these phones that were scattered all around our country, and they usually where in booths, hence the name, "Phone Booths". We decided when we reached the park we would head straight for a bank of phone booths that were over at the CircleVison 360 theater, and make our calls there.
All the phone booths were taken except for a few, new-fangled "speaker-phones", so I was forced to call my boss from one of those.
I had never used a speaker phone before, so I was unaware of the how the acoustics. might work. I found out as soon as I spoke with my boss.
I started off telling him I was sick, and wouldn't be in. He was cool about it, and then he said, "Where are you calling from?" I was shocked by the question, but kept my cool, so I told him I was at home, on my phone there.
"Really? Sounds like you are on a speaker phone!"

I acted dumb, and asked him what a speaker phone was. He explained it to me, and then said, "The only place I know of with speaker phones is at the Anaheim Convention Center. You aren't in Anaheim, are you?"
I of course lied, and he bought it, but the rest of the day all I did was worry that he may have called my home back just to be sure I was telling the truth. I lucked out, though, he had trusted me and not a word was never spoken about it again.
But seriously though WTF. Gosh no not facebook the worlds at an end. Using facebook isnt exactly the same as sitting doing work all day is it? Gosh how pathetic.
People are coming up with worse excuses for firing people everday.
