Extremists... What makes them tick?

lol - awesome. Well, on this site, I try my best to ignore them and not take their bait. In real life, I give them the death stare and penetrate their senses with my Jedi mind tricks. ....I'm going to change the world - watch out!

If it's the right wing nuts and just as those two university studies reveal it's fear and negativity. On the left I wonder if they're just plain nuts.

I'm not sure what makes them tick other then their own hate.. I usually use facts, once that fails, cartoons, if that fails I walk away... I do like your fetch photo and have used it afew times..

I'm starting to treat them like the dogs they are... They need to be taught a little obedience.

How do you deal with them?

Try to use logic and moderated responses and actually try to hit people with some conciliatory/compromise policy suggestions... Many have engaged in great conversations after an initial right wing rhetorical response. Not sure any have changed my opinion completely nor if I've completely changed any opinions of theirs but we've found some common ground. Since I'm progressive what I will often find on the right are conservatives only willing to pick and choose policies I've proposed that meet their agenda and ignore the other side of the compromise... Unfortunately Congress is full of people who also think that way...as the President discovered over the last 3 years. (Yes, there are liberals who are like this too, but far less I believe.) Some people who are just obviously filled with seething rage and hate (and trolls) simply need to be ignored but what always amazes me is how many people like that get ALL THE RAVES. Pitchfork at the witch burning approach.

What makes a person or idea extrem is the point it's being viewed from. From ground level a mountain is extreem.

What the true Extremist wants to do is brand his opponet quickly and so cover his own true Extremism from being seen.

If there are two of us we will have some ideas that are extrem from each other. To control extrem is like riding a tiger I would imagine.

Society is made of extrems, which can and must be regulated properly for balance. The constant headach of kings and Princes is juggeling extrems. Drop a ball and you have civil unrest at best. Try killing off one side and the other grows faster and unchecked. And neither unrest or conflict provide security or revenue, which any Government must have to function.

I don't think of Herman as extrem, except maybe being a conservitive makes him so from the "accepted black leadership". from that POV i guess he is, but so am I then.

But then 80+ % of Democrat political leadership is extrem from where I stand. I see them and their supporters working to tear down our Constitution or circumvent it, so how can I agree with them?

I meant no insult to Herman... I like him.. but I used him as a way of telling off a racist, by saying his owner was a black man.

This is my way of dealing with extremist. Treat them as animals... and they either obey or just go away.

Think about this if you will. I don't rely on the normal "spectrum" of politics, I think of a compass. I don't care which side they go down, but the futher they get from where I stand they are depriving me of rights.

Now that's a great way to look at it..

And if I was you standing in the middle, and found an extremists running towards me, I'd be able to throw the shiny ball in any direction, and watch him chase it. To put it in your perspective, that's how I would shield myself from extremist... because they love to chase objects.
