    Dude! Other choices?!

How 'bout neither one has 'rights' to wear whatever they please on somebody else's freakin' property? Don't like it? Well, don't let the door knob hit you in the ass on the way to ye olde unemployment line!

I do not care if your imaginary friend tells you what to wear, but if it gets in the way of the job you want, then either look for a different job or stop believing in fairy tales.

She has no reasons to sue Disney. I'm sure they have dress codes and that would not be one of them. just another frivilous lawsuit. Hope she loses big time.

I don't think any company should have the right to ban religious attire. So just as I supported the case against British Airways who refused to allow a woman to wear a crucifix, I support this case too.

True, and I'm not saying they don't have the legal right, just that I don't think they should have the legal right.

I worked at a place where they didn't allow beards. There was no problem, the guys wanted to work not to make a statement.

Workplaces have dress codes and I'm sure she knew that when they hired her. If she doesn't like it, then get another job.

    "then get another job"

I'd love to live in your economy right now where getting a new job is that easy!

And I know she had a choice about joining that organization or not. She shouldn't have joined if she couldn't abide by the rules. But my belief still remains that (ideally) companies shouldn't be able to just make up and enforce any old rule they feel like.

Every company I worked for had dress codes. If we didn't like it then we were free to find another job. If she wants her job, she should take off the scarf. Simple. Companies can't give into every whim someone has. What if someone wanted to come in wearing short shorts, o halters, or barefoot? That wouldn't be acceptable at all, and they would get fired, so why give in to this person.
  • Ben **Starz... 2012/08/17 11:38:01
    Ben
Show me a religious belief or cultural attire that includes halters and barefeet?

As I said, if the rules existed when she joined then she should follow them. However I personally believe that an organisation should only ban traditional or religious attire when there is a proper sensible reason to.
  • **Starz... Ben 2012/08/17 11:40:25 (edited)
    **StarzAbove**
You missed the point. I didn't say going barefoot was a religious belief. Whether it be religious or not, if it's against their dress code and she didn't like it, find another job.
  • Ben **Starz... 2012/08/17 11:47:48
    Ben
And you're missing my point that I've said that I agree that if she knew the dress code when she signed up then she should follow it. But I still believe that ideally a company should have no right to ban any cultural attire unless they have an actual proper sensible reason for doing so.

It's their company. They have every right to do what they want. If not, it would be the tail wagging the dog.
  • Ben **Starz... 2012/08/17 11:58:08 (edited)
    Ben
I agree they have the right to do what they want (within reason of course), merely that they shouldn't set laws and rules that have no practical reason for them.
  • **Starz... Ben 2012/08/17 11:59:42
    **StarzAbove**
I wouldn't hire someone that wore a scarf all day long, no way. And evidently it was and is a very practical reason.
  • Ben **Starz... 2012/08/17 12:04:41
    Ben
    Why not?
How would it interfere with their ability to do their job?

    And how was it practical?

And it's a bit more than a mere 'scarf' btw.

you need some more choices here... i dont believe that only Christians have rights. But if she is in uniform, thats what she needs to wear, or move on. This is America, if you want to wear your head scarf and its against the rules, get over it and move on.

Christians are NOT the only ones that have rights, HOWEVER, because of the safety concerns of many of the assignments one may expect to encounter, especially with the various rides where a person could entangle the scarf in one of the rides doors or hook it on almost anything.

In a safety sensitive type jobs we have restrictions on many types of clothing and head dress as well as loose clothing etc.

She will not win this suit.

I think that she shouldn't be able to if the Jewish guy can't wear his weird hat thing. No one should be allowed to wear something that IS NOT part of the costume. I don't agree with the only christians have rights thing though.

I would think that having a head scarf while on a wild roller coaster is not a good idea. scarf gets caught in roller coaster
