President Obama's recent outreach to women voters has won him strong support in polls, but former CNN and NBC anchor Campbell Brown says in an op-ed column published Sunday that the effort "so far has seemed maddeningly off point."

Brown wrote in The New York Times
that Obama is "trying too hard" to win the women's vote. "He’s
employing a tone that can come across as grating and even condescending.
He really ought to drop it," she said. "Most women don’t want to be
patted on the head or treated as wards of the state. They simply want to
be given a chance to succeed based on their talent and skills."

Brown charged that the women she
knows "couldn’t be further from the fictional character of Julia,
presented in Mr. Obama’s Web ad, “The Life of Julia,”
a silly and embarrassing caricature based on the assumption that women
look to government at every meaningful phase of their lives for help."

Obama wants everyone to think women are treated like second-class citizens in this country, and they have to be protected by the State!

Campbell Brown is one smart lady. She knows full well why Team Obama went with the Julia character. They knew she would attract howling Republicans like a magnet, and that in turn would cause other people to access the site. It worked like a charm. Now Republicans are probably trying to find a similar draw.

Even without Julia, the GOP with its ongoing moral rants, which Pope Santorum really placed in the spotlight, was doing its best to highlight abortion and birth control and single moms and transvaginal probing. Of course Team Obama will work that to its advantage. No doubt about it.

First of all, being of the other gender (of which there are two) I have been told by many a feminist that I cannot speak for wimmin. So, any feminist who says Obie speaks for them is either admitting he's a fairy or a complete hypocrite.

Having said that, I am of the opinion that Obie thinks less of wimmin then he does of men. In fact, I would go as far as to say he prefers men sexually too, but that is beside the point.

This "Julia" thing, coupled with his misogynistic joke telling about Sarah P. shows what really lies beneath his mahogany skin. I think Moochelle is an controlling Amazon woman who instills Obie with resentment towards the fairer sex.

I think she's wrong but I admit to not knowing anything about this stupid character "julia". It seems to me that with all the attacks on woman's rights by the GOP its be a shoe-in for Obama to get the women vote.

Agreed, mich. "The Real Life of Julia" is an Obama ad showing what a woman's life would be like under the Obama Admimistration as to what Romney's wouldn't do for her.

She has NO credibility when married to a Romney senior advisor. There are a lot of successful Julias just because of government student loans for their education, and I am one of them. What else can Republicans do but deny the war on women when it is patently obvious with all the state and federal bills attacking womens reproductive rights, defunding Planned Parenthood, against equal pay, and now trying to water down renewal of the Violence against Women Act in the House. Even conservative women in Congress like Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Lisa Murkowski have criticized their fellow Republicans for focusing on this.
