Question US

Everyone is jumping on the McCain, Hagee Bandwagon, do people really think that the relationships between Hagee and McCain, and Wright and Obama compare?

Jamie (goofygirl) May 23, 2008 15:52:34

This was Hagee's response

"I am tired of these baseless attacks and fear that they have become a distraction in what should be a national debate about important issues. I have therefore decided to withdraw my endorsement of Senator McCain for President effective today, and to remove myself from any active role in the 2008 campaign," he said in a statement.
"I hope that the Senator McCain will accept this withdrawal so that he may focus on the issues that are most important to America and the world."
This was Wrights Response

“I said to Barack Obama last year, ‘If you get elected November the 5th, I’m coming after you, because you’ll be representing a government whose policies grind under people.’ All right? It’s about policy, not the American people.”

Asked if he was disappointed that Obama put distance between himself and Wright, Wright said: “He didn’t distance himself. He had to distance himself, because he’s a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was anti-American. He said I didn’t offer any words of hope. How would he know? He never heard the rest of the sermon. You never heard it.”

    None of the above

Just more of the same bullshit, petty, character attacks on both sides. I'm a bit more worried about the actual issues and policy. I won't be voting for the flip flopping, geriatric, dishonest, more downhill Bush policy, puppet that is McCain. I like Ron Paul, Barack Obama, and Ralph Nader. Any of the Three will do.

Obama went to Wrights church for 20 years. Mccain was not a member.

We need to let the candidates think for themselves. If McCain wants to have Hagee work for the Evangelical vote - more power to him. If his beliefs line up to Hagee's beliefs, who are we to judge?

They are not in any way similar! Obama sat through two decades of racist, anti-America rants from the Rev. Wright, and called him his spiritual advisor. Wright also married the Obamas, baptised their daughters and even blessed their home when they moved into it! McCain simply accepted an endorsement from Hagee, there is no comparison!

There is no comparison. Barack was a member of Wright's church because he needed the influential pastor's support to get elected in Illinois. Now he is on a different stage playing to a more diverse audience, he knows that this language will turn off voters, so he must distance himself and I believe Wright is on-board with it. He is a master of spin an eloquent orator and a political opportunist, just what we want in our President. It's all about the image, character doesn't count with this guy. He's flip-flopped on his pastor the one person that he said he could never turn away from...

If you have a problem with one of them, you should have a problem with the other one. Again, a matter of one's perspective....

They in no way compare. McCain did not sit or even attend his church for 22 years. He did not sit there and listen to his hate; the way BHO listened to Wright for 22 years. Its like comparing apples to oranges.

Please, if you look for an endorsement or if you belong to a church that has a "crazed" minister..where is the difference?

Oh, I know one sticks with what they belong to, the other just looks for someone that makes them more appealling until something is said....

Obama called Wright his "spiritual mentor". Well, that is a very scary thought!

How I understand it, hagee endurced McCain and McCain accepted, then Hagee went on a nut trip and McCain said he didn't want it no more. I think McCain was actully in Hagee's church for a total time of 3 months. Then you have Obama, who went to this church for 20 years, named two books after sermons he heard from this unamericain racist man. he had his chilren baptize there in the pools of hate, He married a woman with as much hate for those of lighter skin as the preacher there, so ya no real comaperison, and for the record, I really hate McCain

i think this another attempt by the left wing media to purify Obama, who can do no wrong in their eyes, and if he does they'll find something else to distract us and try to make it look like the right wing side is just as bad or worse, only thing is Obama just keeps doing it over and over-after just saying how great his church was and its new pastor, the new pastor invites another anti-American, anti-white preacher to come and teach-and it sounds like Jeremiah Wright all over again

There is no legitimate equivalence between the two scenarios.... just a typical attempt by the liberals to make it one... similar to comparing waterboarding to beheadings and classify them both as torture, etc. A wildly distorted and political attempt at "moral equivalency." They'll do anything and say anything to get back the white house.

Obama and his relationship was personal...very personal. Not only was Wright his pastor...but he was his spiritual mentor....and accepted as part of the family (except unlike family, he chose him). McCain and Hagee is different. McCain didn't attend Hagee's church for 20 years. Hagee endorsed McCain...just like Farrakhan, Hamas, and the Black Panthers endorsed Obama.
