Environmental Idiocy and plastic bags.

Wal-Mart Bags, Grocery Bags. They are all over the world, polluting from the Artic to Antartica, choking baby seals, suffocating animals, and they just look BAD!

some places want to ban plastic bags.
Think it's a good idea?

Do you know why we have so many plastic bags?

Back in the day, there were only paper bags. Cheap, biodegradable, and renewable.

But then the environmentalists (the same idiots who are screaming "Global Warming" nowadays, decided that paper bags were BAD.

Why?

We were destroying too many trees, and then there was going to be too much CO2 in the air, and we would have 'global cooling'

So, if you hate the litter of plastic bags, just thank the Democrats, Environmentalists, and the left for it.

Personally, I do have and use cloth grocery sacks...problem is the baggers at the store never fill them and generally use a bunch of unnecessary plastic bags anyway. If I don't have my bags with me I prefer paper, but that isn't even an option some places now. Let's face it, the ecoterrorists will not be happy until mankind becomes extinct...

Plastic is very toxic and can cause a miriad of health problems. This is just coming to light and I'm trying to buy everything I use in either glass or paper. If people cared they would recycle all these things and we wouldn't have to keep generating more and more toxins. I have 3 separate bags in my trunk right now going to the dumpster for recycling. I have been doing this long before it was popular. Just common sense. Our kids and Grandkids have to live here!!

plastic one uses in a year

Also think twice about the water you're drinking and the plastic you're drinking it from.

As was pointed out 30 years ago, and is still true today, HDPE is simple and cheap to recycle as compared with paper.

That is true, but polyeth isn't very biodegradable, and people just toss the bags. If they did that with paper. we wouldn't have the issue at hand.

    Thank you for your answer

Orange peels have a longer degrade time than cellulose impregnated HDPE. Only litter is at question here, given the nature of modern sanitary land fill. In a modern landfill nothing degrades.

Yep. Same with glass bottles. The one thing I do like about plastic bags is that they are great for picking up dog poop.
I remember when paper bags were really strong. You could pack 'em full of heavy groceries and walk six or seven blocks home without them tearing.

Another environmental abomination. Leave the poop on the ground and it will return to nature naturally. ;) I'd rather step in poop than in gum! ;)

Bring back paper bags. Cloth ones are probably the most economical but not very convenient. Plastic ones are good for picking up dog poop, though. Folks, no matter what we do it will be construed as harming the Earth. We just can't win.

Hmmm... I wonder how many cloth bags are made from man-made fibers (i.e. plastic)?
