Embarrassment: The 'Obama of Alabama' Switches to GOP
Artur Davis is not your average Democrat.
- He was a staunch supporter of Obama in 2008.
- Gave a speech at the Democratic convention.
- Is a former member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
- And his nickname was "Obama of Alabama".
According to him, Obama has failed as President and he is switching to GOP.
Katie Pavlich of Townhall.com says to him "Welcome to the GOP".
Here is a statement by Davis:
On the specifics, I have regularly criticized an agenda that would punish businesses and job creators with more taxes just as they are trying to thrive again. I have taken issue with an administration that has lapsed into a bloc by bloc appeal to group grievances when the country is already too fractured: frankly, the symbolism of Barack Obama winning has not given us the substance of a united country. You have also seen me write that faith institutions should not be compelled to violate their teachings because faith is a freedom, too. You’ve read that in my view, the law can’t continue to favor one race over another in offering hard-earned slots in colleges: America has changed, and we are now diverse enough that we don’t need to accommodate a racial spoils system. And you know from these pages that I still think the way we have gone about mending the flaws in our healthcare system is the wrong way—it goes further than we need and costs more than we can bear.

Beccy 2012/06/02 00:52:14My thoughts are..

but I still believe if he feels threatened , that there could be still a orchestrated event so to cement his sucession / and the sucession of those who see his socialistic agenda as being very viable ,,and their guaranteed seats for 15 yrs ..no const . bill of rights . only a regime ..and parlamentary or dictatorship ..now how many are devout card carrying commies ???
which would cause a revolt ...and with his revised NDAA .it all makes sense !
Rick Perry was a democrat until age 39
In 1984, Perry was elected to the Texas House of Representatives as a Democrat from district 64, which included his home county of Haskell. He served on the House Appropriations and Calendars committees during his three two-year terms in office. He befriended fellow freshman state representative Lena Guerrero of Austin, a staunch liberal Democrat who endorsed Perry's reelection bid in 2006 on personal, rather than philosophical, grounds.
Perry was part of the "Pit Bulls", a group of Appropriations members who sat on the lower dais in the committee room (or "pit") who pushed for austere state budgets during the 1980s. At one point, The Dallas Morning News named him one of the ten most effective members of the legislature.
In 1987, Perry voted for a $5.7 billion tax increase proposed by Republican governor Bill Clements. Perry supported Al Gore in the 1988 Democratic presidential primaries and worked in an unspecified capacity for Gore's campaign in Texas. In 1989, Perry announced that he was switching parties, becoming a Republican.

Davis supported Obama in 2008 and is now switching parties because of the policies of the same person.
